It is interesting how the Charr are discussed as being a “barbaric” race, yet it is the humans who wear the hides of their enemies.

GW is darker than it appears.

Humans are comparable to Ed Geins the serial killer who wore his victims skins.

Charr are blood thirsty savage beast people.

Sylvari are movie classic pod-people.

Asura are gremlins. Any of which is a coin toss when it comes to whether they have any compunctions about experimenting on you.

Norn morality is based soley on being the best at something. Even if that something focuses on crimes against humanity (and all other sentient beings). It is completely acceptable to them.

In fairness, I’m pretty sure it was only Ascalonians who wore their enemies’ skins. No other human culture in Tyria seems to have done that.

I think that only certain people would wear ancient armor like this.

One, the people who don’t know any better — i.e. Charr hide armor around a/the Charr, thus this could cause a problem. Some wet behind the ears kid in his ancestors armor. Whoops his bad.

Two, the people who hate or dislike the Charr still. Like those that are bigots, those who follow the old ways, or that are simply don’t care about offending.

Three, ceremonial armor for special occasions.

Gw1 was darker on a number of levels, not just the charr hide armour. One of Pyre Fierceshot’s battle quotes in Eye of the North I remember was.
“Humans. Bah! Your limbs rip apart so easily.”
