About Charr character design
It’s not the clipping that gets me so much, but the STRETCHING of robes and items that hang. Which, really, Charr armor needs a lot of redesigning. If you run on all fours, why in the name of common sense would you wear anything other than pants??

it seems many like them better than the games they comment on.” -Horrorscope.7632
I’m only bothered with their sharp and clunky look.
Then don’t play one. I’m glad Charr don’t have any fan service. They’re kittenes.

Ikr. They are wearing skirts in a lot of cases. Some of these leggings also have straps that hang down in front. Imagine putting a dog in a skirt that hangs down to the ground in front of the hind legs. Every step means the hind legs gets tangled up in all that cloth. It’s totally against logic to watch them run dressed like this.
It seems like a lack of passion to me. I mean they should care about each race equally no matter the circumstances. First time I ever noticed something like this(I am sure this happens in other games).

I play one. I enjoy the Charr race. And if I have suggestions / opinions, I share them. Much like how you would if for anything else.

I should actually be more specific. Their shape being clunky instead of smooth. Not the armor so much as body appearance. It just looks like there was little care given to it.

Yes! That’s what I feel it is too. There’s not enough attention given to them all equally. ANet says there’s not enough people playing these other races that don’t look as good as the Human or Norn and a number of players myself included are like “Well maybe if you gave them more, it would be incentive to play it!”
The new faces and hairs are far less clunky…
Yeah, but that’s just it. They’re new and exclusive. But the charr’s body looks clunky. I wish that would be fixed so it could look maybe at least as nice as the Sylvari or the Asura bodies. I mean, they DO look good, it IS a half-feral beast race and I’m quite impressed that they went that far. But I feel like some areas didn’t get as much care as they should have.
I think their fur textures could be applied better—they look low quality and flat.
But in terms of the body itself, I don’t see what you mean by “clunky”. The charr are big beast-monsters. They’re supposed to be hefty.
In terms of human females, yuck. To me, it looks like arenanet has gone so overboard in attempting to make them “sexy”, that it’s turned them into deformed she-freaks
I know they’re supposed to be hefty, but their design is not smooth compared to other races. I’m not talking about what they look like in accordance to stereotypes either. I’m meaning like there’s parts of the Charr body that don’t look like it can be physically possible to have in the body structure. Female charr for example on mine, there’s a huge edge bump behind her shoulders.
Some parts you’ll probably see what I’m talking about look really… weird. I’m not saying smooth it out as in just remove said bump, but make it more rounded. More natural and less mechanical.
They look good but I think they can look better.

That is not all that bad. And it really isn’t clunky as much as it is polygon budget.
Clunky is Rox’s horns… they are seriously bad.
I guess that’s a better way to put it. Polygon budget. As for rox’s horns, I rather like them, haha. They could use a bit more curve though too.
Sorry man, the clipping with chest armor and over-sized spatula digs into me all the time. :s
Also the skirts make no sort of sense as they drag along the ground… All charrmor should be a variety of pants/leggings/armor/ornaments with none of the chest armor dragging along the floor…
But I guess it’s not any sort of focus to have armor actually “fit” on Charr instead of being stretched out like it is…

My problem with those horns is they are simply shoved into the side of the face and top of the head. They don’t attach in the same way as all the other horns so they kind of do the best they can to connect it to the face without using the normal attachment points and it just looks very clunky, and bad, to me. I can understand why these horns can’t really be attached to the player character’s models very well since they are so different than the original horns, but…
They didn’t even really try to model Rox’s face and horns together (being a unique character, they could have built her face to fit the horns but they didn’t). Instead they put some gold bands at the base to hide where it should connect to the head, and call it a day, so maybe I am just a bit critical about them. Honestly, the way they sit on Rox’s head, it looks like they are prosthetics that she wears to hide some horrible accident or something. As you can see, it bugs me a lot.
PseudoNewb – I agree with u… I hope more love will be put into any new horns that we may see in the future. I hope they get proper attachment to the head no matter what direction they Point in.
I also have a hard time seeing the proper attachement of Rox’s horns to the head…. The don’t feel connected to the head, they rather feel just put there.
The only thing that gets me is the GAP between back items & Charr – there is a huge gap & WHY were they so poorly designed on this aspect?
Another thing is tail clipping – Anet knows charrs have tails yet they ignore us & come out with sub-par armor skins (sub par looking on charr anyways) ignoring a charrs tail.
Yes, lets design a character & completely ignore everything about it that is wrong.
If we get new horns, they will clip with charr ears most likely.
Yeah the back piece is a bit of a problem… Some of them look alright though.
Shoulders are another problem too but for me it’s just I wish they put more attention to detail towards the polygon budge on the character model.
