Any RPers invent your own legions?
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
I remember seeing at least 2 early on in the guild forums. I’m also interested to see hwat people came up with.
Huh, I didn’t know about this… If I did try to create my own Legion, I’d probably create a new magic-using Legion, advertising itself as a place where all magic-using Charr can come and be welcome, free to practice their magic without prejudice or suspicion, but taking pains to emphasize that we are not affiliated with the Flame Legion and reject their hostility towards humans or the other High Legions.
This is interesting. I imagine these smaller legions would function almost like charr-guilds. I do hope arenanet expands more upon these legions in-game.

If not Legion, why not Warband?

When I was leveling cooking on my Charr Elementalist, I joked with a couple other Black Citadel Chefs that we should start the “Flan Legion”, vanquishing foes with delicious desserts.
My charr chef is also my enchanter. He makes truly “magical” dishes… that then kill you. Ash legion, you know.
As for the legion I made:
Dust Legion
Dust Legion is a small legion that makes no claims to the throne of the Khan-Ur. Their purpose is to act as impartial judges and historians for the rest of the charr Legions. To remain impartial, they have several rules they must follow.
- Dust Legion may not lead the other Legions.
- Dust Legion may not take command of non-Dust, save under the higher authority of non-Dust charr.
- Dust Legion records history, they do not make it. Advise and teach, and let those that listen decide history.
- Dust Legion may not rise to power great enough to rival the other Legions. Keep our numbers small.
Members of Dust Legion will often serve with warbands from other Legions, so that they can see first hand the history and facts they are recording. They will never lead those warbands, however. Many within the High Legions don’t care for Dust, as each Legion tends to teach a version of history that plays up their side of things and downplays the other Legions. Many within the High Legions don’t even know of Dust Legion’s existence, as they are commonly skipped in cubs’ lessons.
Dust Legion’s history traces back to the days before the Khan-Ur. Occasionally, a powerful and respected charr would take to wandering. If they encountered two groups of charr that were at odds with each other, they would sometimes serve as an impartial third party to decide things, especially if settling things by violence would result in too high of a cost to both sides. One of these wandering charr, when offered favors to sway his judgement, was reported to have said “I came here carrying only the dust on my fur, and I will leave carrying only the dust on my fur.”
During the time of the Khan-Ur, he often settled minor disputes that were brought before him by passing them off to such charr, and even appointed more so-called “dust walkers” so that he would have more time to focus on the more important issues at hand. After his death, the dust walkers became the start of the Dust Legion, still carrying on the duty appointed to them by the Khan-Ur. In recent times, they have been needed less as judges and mediators, and have focused more on recording the true and unbiased history of the charr race.
Though they sometimes face resentment from charr of the High Legions, most consider Dust valuable enough to tolerate. Only Flame is openly hostile to Dust at this time, and even then they are sometimes able to speak instead of fight.
