I was building my Charr’s look, I was going for this devil motif but as I was building him, he looked more and more like a Samurai. I started messing with items, transmuting where necessary so I maintained exotic level pieces. I went with Enduring chest piece and leggings (also known as “dark”). The gauntlets are Vigil, the pauldrons are barbaric, boots are plate, and the helm is draconic. He is colored with cinnamon, pitch and midnight rust dyes.

So…a Samurai needs a sword and unfortunately (ANet, please listen), there’s no Katana so I had to find a weapon that was sort of close and decided on the “Breath of Flame” great sword.

So, help me out here, are there alternatives for any of the pieces that get me closer to the image below my Charr? I am happy with the colors….

If you’re trying to get close to that picture, you’re about as good as you’re gonna get.

Might be worth looking at http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Naga_Fang or the order of whispers greatsword, both give me more of a “Samurai” vibe.

That blade is very cool. Kind of a cross between a scimitar and a katana. Thank you, I will preview it….

The sclerite 1h sword sort of fits the description, but it also has an eye and is hard to obtain.

I know I am in the minority when I say I like scelerite skins. This one, however, has a very celtic pommel and I don’t think it would work but thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

I tend to think of Charr culture as “non-absurd Klingons” rather than “samurai”. Basically a warrior/military-oriented culture with a strong honor code that skips the utter stupidity of most Klingon stories by recognizing the importance of logistics – Ranchers aren’t as awesome as a line troops, but the culture doesn’t squat over them and take a big dump, mostly because an army deprived of its food supply is no longer an army. Its a pack of starving bandits. Seeing non-warriors treated in terms of the value they contribute to overall military readiness is actually quite refreshing.

The other defining characteristic of the charr is summed up by some dialogue in the back corner of their starter zone discussing what to do with the local skelk population… “We’re going to do what Charr always do with a bunch of fresh meat: train it to fight as a unit.” You see it time and again in their zones – Charr will attempt to train just about anything as a fighting auxiliary. Battle cattle for the win.

Oh… you mean visually. Sure, You can make them pretty samurai. Browse the “ceremonial” weapons in the TP. The swords have a nice curve to them.

“You keep saying ‘its unfair.’
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
