Charr : - After the dragons
The Charr were originally under the rule of the Flame Legion who, under the influence of the Titans, led them against humanity bringing the Searing upon Ascalon and leading assaults on both Kryta and Orr.
Obviously there are still tensions between the Charr and the humans, but there is a lot more possibility for a positive relationship and a return to war between the two races is highly unlikely, even just because it wouldn’t make any sense within the context of the game.
Charrs will never forget their past and once they will have nothing to fight, they’ll turn against anyone in Tyria, spreading their rage and bloodthirst over the peaceful landscape.
The norn in me hopes that dragons will eat as many furries as possible, although I don’t mind putting my sword to a good use.
/I don’t rez charrs

The flame legion only came to power over the charr about 500~ before GW2.(and about 300 years before the events of GW1) So they were not originally under their influence. They accepted it because it made them stronger, and allow them to combat the magics that humans could use.(plus they kinda melted anyone who said otherwise)
So that’s about 800+ years where the Charr were not led by the flame legion.
To add the whole reason for the “fields of ruin” map in GW2 is to emphasize the unease and tension between the humans and the Charr.
In addition to the fact that Charr are reared for battle and they are deemed ready at 8 years old and they are expected to kill. So what happens when all these kiddies are trained to kill and guess what? The wars over nothing to fight… A culture based on being the strongest military might no longer needs a military.
But I like your attitude on the positives but I just can’t see it frankly… Because wars are easy, peace is the hard part kinda thing especially when you’re trained to break necks for a living(I guess).
You guys do realize that the Charr and Norn respect each other quite a bit, right? If anything the Charr and Norn will be solid allies for quite a while.
Humans will still be an on edge alliance, but since both sides are being driven by heavy politics to keep the relations together, I don’t see this being broken.
Asurans are the ones that will likely break any type of alliance with anyone. If anything, they’re the ones to be keeping an eye on.
Slyvari, they’re too green to be considered a threat. Get it? Too green…. ‘cause they’re a new race and they’re plants? Get it? Har har har. Anyways, they’d be easily conquered by any of the other races, likely Asurans since they’re so close. I predict they become slaves of them.
Warning: Spoilers concerning storyline and dungeon storylines, and a lot of lore.
Theres plenty of things in theory. Once they kill the dragons, theres still the Flame Legion to deal with, or what remains of it, considering we pretty much nuke it in CoF.
however the main thing that could keep them going is the ghosts. They’re a immortal, self-perpetuating war that will go on until the ghosts are put to rest, and the only way for those ghosts to be put to rest is if a true human heir to the throne of Ascalon goes to the center of Ascalon city with both of the twin swords Sohothin and Magdaer in hand, and the only known heir to the throne at the moment is Jennah. Assuming she gets both swords somehow (Unlikely considering Magdaer was taken by Eir after is it recovered in the AC storyline and Sohothin is with Rytlock somehow.), she could easily just decide not to lay them to rest, just to keep the Charr busy until the end of time. and theres the possibility that the whole thing about laying the ghosts to rest by using Magdaer and Sohothin could just be a legend.
Or of course theres always the possibility the Charr don’t want the ghosts to disappear so they can kill them infinitely. in which Rytlock might refuse to hand over Sohothin so he can keep it as a paperweight, considering he does a desk job now.

Don’t like Jennah? What about Wade Samuelsson?
Though I do believe Jennah would probably lay the swords to rest because she let Charr go during the Orge revolt and they were still enemies at the time. Though I do like the thought of the charr saying nope to the end of the curse cause they like killing ascalonians so much. Can’t get my morning paper without a good ghost busting…

And before they were under the flame legions influence they were fighting against humanity who took their homelands from them >.>, which I think is pretty justified.
But that is a very long time ago and recent events should be enough to cement at least some sort of bond between the Charr and Humanity. There are still more dragons to kill (and we know that there is at least 1 year per dragon + 5 dragons left = 5 more years of the Charr and Humanity fighting together). Then there are the ghosts of ascalon to deal with etc. So I don’t think we have anything to worry about, a point where there is no threat holding the Charr’s attention is a long ways off.

The Charr were too busy fighting between themselves after the death of the khan-ur during the founding of Ascalon. Even then they were barely able to assault the outer settlements let alone the great northern wall. To add it took the flame legion 800 years to take power, after the Charr lost Ascalon . So that’s about 800 years of Charr pretty much killing each other and maybe the odd human.
So in your oppinion this great apocalypse of dragons coming and eating all the magics will simply be beaten in 5 years… The same cycle that has apparently repeated every ten thousand years. When relations between Charr and humans have been shaky for 1400 years?
Plus I really don't think Zhaitan the *undead* dragon is gone. And if you didn’t know present day GW2 is about 2 years after the games personal story ends. So I’m really liking that 5 year plan.
For your ghost problem could I please ask you to point your eyes up the thread to a discussion I had with Argon.1563.
But in all honesty I like your spark. You’re clearly passionate about the Charr/human relation and feel its through mutual hate that they can overcome differences.. Alas I am a little more cynical about it.
It’s one year after the personal story ends actually (I’m going off the confirmed year that was in a recent video or summary post).
and I don’t mean that it is ONLY going to take 5 years, I mean that it is at LEAST going to take 5 years since they confirmed that they wouldn’t have more than 1 dragon in a year.
But yeah I’ll admit my take on it is not very cynical. To be honest I’m looking at it mostly from a mechanical point of view. In the game Charr and Humans are never going to be full on enemies because the Charr and Human players are on the same side – so their conflicts with one another, whilst maybe not solved, are never going to be at the forefront within GW2. In that respect it’s sort of like the gameplay and mechanics are enforcing a limit on the lore – because in reality there would be a lot more tension between Charr and humans. They might work together to fight the dragons, but it would be a very very uneasy alliance – much more uneasy than it is portrayed in game. But then of course part of that falls on the fact that the lore has the Charr as warmongers, but in game they are a lot more raitonal.

I think this alliance will never be more than a treaty. A simple stop to the slaughter, while both parties will still keep their weapons at hand. It just seems so odd, that those two fractions could just sit together drinking tea and cooking dinner, moments after they were still killing each other. And a lot of NPCs still show this hatred for the other race. Which is legitimate in my eyes.
They’ll probably do the same thing real world humans have done: engross themselves in sports and petty political and military squabbles.
