Charr Guardian, which Legion?
I think a guardian fits any of the legions well, depending on their mindset. Is your guardian about the team, about the warband, self sacrificing in mindset? Blood Legion is likely your home, holding the front line for your companions to rest in your shadow.
Do you scour the shadows, bringing justice to corruption? Do you seek out the lies and expose them? Then Ash Legion could be for you, a force of purity using shadows against the unclean.
Do you place your trust in Iron, in the machines of war and the comradery of the workshop? Do you feel that the best defense is a plate of steel and a sword of iron? Is your faith in unified progress unbreakable? Then Iron Legion is for you.
Honestly Charr guardians bug me. The Charr do not worship gods and don’t want to, and the guardians abilities are all about faith….. Anyway I would say Blood or Iron would make the most sense.
Guardians pull their powers from traditions like the Paragon and the Monk. While the latter was pretty faith based, and the Paragons had some faith aspects, there is a good example of a Paragon who drew power from his leadership and his desire to protect and defend, Logan’s ancestor, Lieutenant Keiran Thackeray
Thanks for the first post Magoslich. That was rather deep and thought provoking. Gonna have to give this a tad more think-time.
I apologize for my fist post. It basically reads like a troll post, and I didn’t tell you why Blood, and Iron.
Guardians are front line/just behind the front line melee support, as they can buff allies close to them and have a good range of melee weapons. The blood legion are the Charr’s front line troops, so A blood legion guardian would make sense. The ion legion is basically a support legion thats not afraid to get into the thick of it. They produce weaponry and the charr’s engines of destruction, and use these to support an army. The can however also fight much like the blood legion and be mainline as well. The guardian again fits this role well. Now the ash legion is a scout/infiltration legion which doesn’t really fit as much with a heavy armor wearing melee support class.(note these are all generalizations so there will be exceptions to what I said)
@Magoslich: I never really though of them that way before. The wording for most of their abilities seem faith based, more like monk abilities than paragon abilities. That being said they do play rather paragon like.
Ash, because tip toeing around with heavy metal armor and a giant hammer is the best.
I’ve noticed the generic NPCs of each legion have very specific classes. I’ve only noticed Blood warriors, I see a lot of Ash thieves and necros, and there are a lot of Iron engis and (oddly enough) guardians.
I personally am an Iron guardian. I consider my charr an innovator, which is how he fits into each. (He’s also a member of the Priory.)
Blood guardian also works for fairly obvious reasons, but I’m quite fond now of Ash guardian. The idea of a charr witch hunter fits extremely perfectly.

Title says it all. Which Legion do you think a Guardian fits best into?
- The Blood Legion: Because they’re at the front lines, always. (Figuratively, of course.)
- The Ash Legion: Because they need to keep their faith secret?
- The Iron Legion: Because their faith is in technology.
What do you think? Going to be starting up a Charr Guardian soon, so would like the forumites input.
Blood Legion makes the most sense, but any profession can fit in with any legion. The methods a legion employs has nothing to do with the specific skills of those in the legion, but with the overall military strategies they rely on.
Blood Legion relies on blunt frontal assault type tactics primarily – ground pounders. Essentially zerging.
Ash Legion relies on more subtle methods – burnt earth tactics come to mind, at the very least, but also moving in upon a tactical weakness with a small assault force to take out an enemy’s leader.
Iron Legion often relies on technology – not just war machines – to get the job done, rather than fielding tons of soldiers on the field and risking their lives.
So you could be a Warrior in the Ash Legion, or a Necromancer in the Iron Legion, and still make it work from a roleplay perspective. You just need to figure out how your charr’s personality fits in with his warband.
Even Blood Legion warbands need scouts.
You know what they say about the leading man? He never dies.
They don’t really have a fit, I chose Blood for my guardian because of the agressive melee I wanted to do.
As was said earlier, Charr actually fit well for Guardian. Guardians don’t rely on gods for their power, they’re not holy warriors. They use the power of their own convictions, their desire to help others, and their inner strength. They’re zealously virtuous, but with virtues they derived on their own accord, not tied to any god.

^ this faith =/= religion a charrdian has faith in himself and his warband, in his race and his legion. Fanaticism is not needed nor is worship of a higher deity. They create their magic (this isn’t d&d mind you) it just springs from their strength of conviction. No different than a sorcerer in D&D uses their force of personality to shape the world around them.
Guardians don’t need to “have faith” at all. From the wiki:
Guardians specialize in protective and defensive magic. A deep sense of loyalty to their allies fuels their passion and power.
I guess you can call that faith if you want. And even then, it just says that it “fuels their passion and power” which doesn’t really mean anything, exactly.
As far as I’m concerned, Guardians just use defensive magic, and that’s all there is to it.
You know what they say about the leading man? He never dies.
My Charr Guardian belongs to the Iron Legion because he believes in the gears of war and the superiority of Charr technology even if he’s not the best tinkerer, just a wielder. Like many others have pointed out I see the loyalty and faith he places in his race, his legion, his warband, and most importantly, himself the source of his powers. Charr don’t need any stinking gods to give them powers.
