Charr's attitude towards magic
Most of the charr we get to see so far are iron legion, they prefer their tech over their magic so it’s natural for them not to have much respect for it.
Furthermore the charr have had bad experiences with some more destructive elemental magic under leadership of the flame legion.
I’d say it definatly fits in their lore but especially fire magic has that negative association to the flame shamans and god worship.
Is what I think anyway, not really an expert
Sadly I’ve noticed the story and such doesn’t really touch on magic all that much, or is a bit contradicting. Dinky is a good example, one of his dialogues talks about being afraid of magic but he’s a friggin’ Guardian and as such uses magic on a regular basis.
Personally I think the Charr as a whole are intelligent and perceptive enough to know that magic itself wasn’t the real problem, it was the ones wielding it and turning it to sinister purpose. So I believe they are cautious of it, and rightfully so, but as a whole I don’t think they shun people for using it unless they use it with malevolent intentions.
In my last Charr’s story, my character found a Charr elementalist being held prisoner by Flame Legion who intended to try and corrupt him to their side simply because he could use magic. He wanted none of it and you break him out. Others treat him pretty much the same as any other charr, save a few pointing out he’s an elementalist, but they ultimately don’t really care.
Same goes for if you pick the Loyal Soldier option for your sire. He’s a mesmer and no one seems to care.

The option is that your father was a shaman and therefor not trusted. Due to the fire legion shaman/titan debachle. magic itself is fine. One of the companion options is an elementalist and described as the most loyal friend.
In general, Charr might be more suspicious of magic. It’s less malleable and predictable than iron and steel. But once you’ve proven yourself to be a reliable soldier, no one is going to fault you for how you going about things. The same judgements would be applied to an the quality of an engineer or a warrior. And really, the bonds between ‘bandmates are so tight that they’ll have your back anyway.
The main issue with your sire in the “sorcerous shaman” quest line is that he’s still with the Flame Legion.

Magic is mainly distrusted by Charr because most magic users tend to belong to the Flame Legion, which was almost entirely made of magic wielders in the past (during the events of GW1). In a kind of catch-22 situation, the Flame Legion today tends to recruit from the ranks of other magic using Charr, who are occasionally enticed because other Charr regard them with suspicion and hostility since they may “end up joining the Flame Legion”.
Despite this, magic users do find roles in the other three Legions. The Ash Legion in particular seems to have a fair number of Necromancers, and regardless of which Legion you choose for your Charr character, you start out with an Elementalist in your warband.
if i would like to play a charr character hunter archer type would that be a problem because i like playing as a archer and charr is by farr (my opinion) the most awesome character so would it be oke btw i am new to guildwars 2 and did never play the first edition unfortunatley anyway waiting for someone’s respond and ty in advance greetz noelstrife
It’s okay to play a as Charr ranger. I was new to Gw2, but I spent ages poring over wiki (none of the spoilers, mind you) entries so I would know at least something about the game. The Charr have no qualms against either rangers or any of the magic classes for that matter. What server are you on? Because I see a lot of Charr rangers in the first part of the starting zone. No doubt you will too.
