Does anyone else feel like Anet never made any alterations for gear when it comes to charrs? I often find awesome looking gear that I want, put em’ on and it doesn’t fit at all. And I don’t mean the item itself is ugly or anything, it’s the animation of the item that doesn’t fit the shape of my charr head or body. I find it pretty annoying.
Yes no dumb?

Doesn’t bother me. Realistically, I don’t expect them to go back and design unique better fitting armor for the sake of one race. I just mix and match from various sets to get the look I like best.

But that said, they did redo several pieces of leg armor to make them better accomodate the tail, adding little slits and flaps of cloth to cover the tail base and soforth

Yeah, it annoys a lot of people and is one of the reasons Charr aren’t that popular.
Even the CoF armour doesn’t fit Charr properly.

Speak for yourself, Hyena.

That they don’t have decent looking armour is a major contributing factor as to why I no longer play. If SOE can redesign armours to properly fit and look right on beast races, then so can ArenaNet. What’s pathetic about this is that I know that ArenaNet’s team is bigger than the team working on Everquest II.

Whether you do a half-arsed job on something or not is a choice, a conscious choice. They chose to not bother with charr armour. It could have looked amazing. See how armour looks on the iksar and the frogloks in EQ II and you’ll see what I mean.

This is just … really, one of the reasons I’ve given up on ArenaNet. I feel that everything about the charr was half-arsed. I’ve gone back to playing Champions Online (where I can create whatever I want without it looking bad), and Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer (where I can play one of my other favourite fictional races – the geth).

ArenaNet have really killed off any desire I have to play the charr. I don’t even have the passion to defend them against the weirdly xenophobic types around here who’re insistent on portraying the charr as dumb monsters. I just don’t have the will. ArenaNet don’t give a crap about the charr, so I’ve since ceased to give a crap about their game.

That’s why I wear cultural sets, because they do in fact look amazing on Charr. There’s also several pieces from karma vendors, dungeons, and even a few crafted pieces that look quite good.

I’m personally a fan of the light heritage set for my Charr elementalist. Something about it just tickles me.

I must agree with everyone else, Charr armor looks just utterly horrible. The COF light helm bugs out their head, And 1 out of 5 sets or so looks halfway decent on them. I’ve been playing my charr as my main since BWE1 and i have yet to find a decent armor that looks good. Seeing as this game is mostly about cosmetics, I would hope and pray they do something to make the charr a little more desirable to dress.

As it stands right now, the only reason i keep playing this guy is because i have so much time invested in him. If i had the choice to buy some sort of cash shop item to change my race, I would do it in a heartbeat and never think twice.

Speak for yourself, Hyena.

I did speak for myself. Hence the use of the personal pronoun, “I.”

And I haven’t played EQII in a while, but I played for the first two years after launch and to my recollection the armor stretching to the various body types was pretty terrible. What I remember of it is that every piece of armor, without exception, was maniupulated to fit your character’s wireframe. Textures were stretched terribly on the torso of the ogres, iksar males, and trolls while looking overly stretched horizontally on dwarves, and did nothing to compensate for the digitigrade stance of the ratonga, making their footwear look like some bizzare pair booties.

But I guess they had time to work on that with the addition of other races with abnormal body structure. If it ever reached a stage of the armor stretching being considered an example to follow, it must have happened after I stopped playing, meaning they had a few years to get their stuff together.

Guild Wars 2 is just 3 months old… just sayin’ they might have bigger priorities at the moment. And once again speaking for myself, In my book the fact that they bothered to adapt a few leg and boot models right from the get-go puts them ahead of the game by comparison.
