I am noob to Guild Wars 2, but not so much MMO’s. I’m a Blood Legion Warrior and I’ve been following the original quests. I have to go recruit an elementalist for my warband. The only thing is, the area is swarming with level 6 and 7 reds. I’m only level 3, almost 4. Did I miss something? I can’t seem to find any other questgivers.
Again, I am new. So I am quite sorry if this is the wrong forum, or a very simple task to accomplish.

There’s world quests around you shaped like hearts on the map. also, as you do those there is world quests that pop up around the small squares on your map, periodically. As you do the heart quests, sometimes you can completet them without killing anything. I always opt to kill for the experience.

I’m also relatively new to gw2 so it took me a little while to get used to the guest system too. Basically aside from story quests, all quests are found in the game world and activate once you get within a certain range of the questgiver.

Look at your quest list in the top right corner of your screen. It’ll shoe you what level you should be to start that quest. If you need a few levels before you can resume your story quest, go out in the zone and complete the heart quests. While you’re doing those, complete Amy dynamic quests that pop up (sometimes you yourself can initiate these if you see an npc with a golden sun-like medallion over their heads.

Also unlock unexplored areas, complete skill challenges, find vistas, gather crafting materials, etc. It’ll all give you decent xp.

exactly — GW2 has removed NPCs with exclamation points over their heads and instead rolled that functionality into the process of earning “renown” among the various NPC groups by killing things, gathering trophies, and helping allies within range of the hearts.

I suspect you will find that it’s not so much that we’re doing different things than we would in other MMOs/the former Guild Wars for questing as it is that it’s rolled into the more fluid experience of wandering around map zones to explore, do dynamic events, and all that.

Happy leveling and exploring! You’ll get those level 6/7 baddies in no time.
