Q:

Hi,
I just started my first charr as a ranger and I love her, but there is something that distracts me every time. Any kind of weapon is floating above the back and it seems really weired. Is this normal?

A:

I got “invader” SB and LB and they are ok on my male charr.
When i saw shop quiver and SB …WOw they really cool.
But they don’t fit charr at all.
Especially on my T2 armor. I really would like a cool and fittin quiver for my ranger.
Of course it’s not the only issue when we speak bout Charrs; we have a very limited number of sets we can wear without clippin , stretchin problems, and speakin of shoulders i almost never show them.

Coolest race in the game thou

Brumen ( the bad english writer)

Well it’s normal for everything, but it does tend to be more noticeable on charr, in the same way a lot of shoulder armour floating off the shoulders is. I have a feeling that to get a minimum of this stuff you’d need to choose the largest body types, as it seems like they didn’t want to go back and make things fit each type in the same way so many armours weren’t made to fit on charr in general, and just got hideously warped around them rather than redesigned to make sense as a thing they would wear.

Yeah, the modelers had to build in some leeway space to account for differently sized characters, as well armors of different bulk. Otherwise, you’d have situations where the weapon couldn’t be seen because it was clipping into the thicker armor the character was wearing, which I’m sure you’ll agree is worse than having the weapon hover a short distance away from the character (which isn’t really visible from behind).

Ok, maybe I worded it a bit wrong (english is not my mother tongue^^")

The weapon is ok, not floating much and it doesnt bother me. But whats really wrong is the backpiece. In any case, running, shooting, standing I can see this huge gap =(.
I even tryed creating a male and a female charr with maximized bodytypes and height. Both have the same issue, it is quite sad =’(

Stuff like this doesn’t bother me when it comes to weapons, but I just get kitten when it happens on armor. Take for example the Karma armor you get in Orr. The gauntlets are normally ok, but when I wield a scepter, the spikes on and around the wrist float, and that kitten es me off, especially since that doesn’t happen when I wield a greatsword.

I have the skins from lvl 40 crafted armour on my thief atm (it’s cheap and NPC’s use it), and there is some subtle but really weird stuff wrong with the back of it. It’s hard to explain but if you ever put some on, look for a small triangular piece of blackness that stretches and warps as you do things. I think especially with the firing of a short bow.

Then you have the (male) AC heavy helm, which looks like it was left on a road and run over. The character would need to do likewise with it’s head (face up) in order for it to make any sense that it’s so wide. Though somehow on females it fits normally – it took me ages to even realize it was the same helmet, but not fugly.

Of course, virtually every shoulderpiece ever seems to float and be so obviously open, exposing the fact that it’s thinner than tinfoil and thus looking incredibly awful.

Often bits and pieces are just made to move really weirdly as well. An individual heavy pauldron will often look like a solid (if painfully thin) object most of the time, but then you’ve got things like the tail-cover on AC heavy armour, which looks like solid metal and flexes like soft fabric.

I swear we need like… some kind of shopping list of broken charr armour, just in the vague hope that it’s haunting enough to get fixed.

this is a problem with every charr backpiece the halloween ones do the same, and because of that I previewed the quiver and noticed it did the same so didnt buy it I tend to have to hide the back piece on my char.

This is also hugely noticeable when holding a shield on my engi the shield just floats near my charrs arm and like someone mentioned we get gravity defying shoulders.

There are some other back pieces and weapons which have this issue on Charr as well, yes. Not all of them do, and most of them are quite tame, floating just a few “inches” off.

However, Rox’s Quiver is a very extreme case. It is by far the worst offender, it floats a rediculous distance off the back. For some reason.

I think it does have some to do with body type. I have another Charr that has almost the largest body type and the quiver only barely floats (compared to my Ranger where it floats a similar huge distance to your screenshots, with him having a pretty small body). Thats really no excuse, though, they ought to be able to adjust this type of thing based on body type. It also doesn’t explain why this particular quiver floats so much more than items.
