I want to make a female Charr alt, ankittenorn between these two professions.

Whichever I don’t choose will go on a human.

So, looking for input, from both a gameplay and aesthetic standpoint. Thanks in advance.

From an aesthetic standpoint (and you could get in to lore a little too) Charr engineer works better… light armor just looks bad on Charr except for a few end game sets. I am not even a fan of the light cultural armor except for a few pieces here and there. Charr are highly suspicious of magic users and tend to lean more towards heavy melee fighters or professions that use guns and such… they are an industrial society so it makes sense.

Gameplay… I actually have a charr necromancer which is my main. It is fun and I enjoy the class a lot. Engineer I here varying thoughts on depending on who you talk to… I like the look of a lot of the medium armor on charr as well.

Agreed with Takarazuka. Engineer Kits and Turrets look more like Charr Tech than they do any other race’s, which makes perfect sense since the Charr were the pioneers of that specific style of combat. And your good looking Charr medium armor options are just slightly more plentiful than light armor options, in my opinion.

In terms of gameplay… it’s honestly hard to say, as both classes top the current bug charts. I like ‘em both enough to have two of each class (my Engineers are Charr and Asura, my Necromancers are Asura and Norn), but I’m kind of a style over substance player. If you’re looking for outright performance, I think Necromancer’s most functional builds outperform Engineer’s most functional builds… but again, both classes need a LOT of work, so comparison is hard while that’s still pending.

Former Guild Wars 2 fan. RIP, ArenaNet’s integrity.
