I’m assuming you mean when you change your gait from running on all fours to two-legging it? If so, that’s always been there for as long as I can remember.

Yeah, this looks a lot better; I hated the stupid looking bounce run.
It looks like “running while holding a long skirt” to me. The old bouncy, swinging hands around was adorable at least.
Anyone care to make me view this new one differently? I’m discouraged to stow weapon now. I have to look away from running Charr NPCs also. DISGUSTEDDDD
EDIT: Never mind, it’s starting to look acceptable after getting a drink. I’ll get used to it :|

I noticed and loved it right away! The old bouncy two-legged run animation looked so silly and comedic; made it difficult taking Charrs seriously, especially when helping NPCs.
In light of this new change I actually wouldn’t mind an option to choose between always running on two legs versus four.

I usually have my character in peripheral vision in combat, so I can’t say I noticed the change. I looked at it running and it just seems to be… well… running. What did it do before?
Wait… is it sort of like how if you take damage jumping, you’d appear to jog but not actually move as fast as you looked like you should be going? I can’t say I’d miss that going away.
Whenever I see the new jog, I only imagine “So… Difficult… To… Run… So heavy…”
I prefer the old running, or even the two-legged running the NPCs have.
I agree with xerca, I like the ‘bounce’ the old run had/the NPCs have. The new one looks too much like they’re trying to run like humans when they don’t have the knees for it.
Easily solved though, just never stow weapons while in combat I guess, and just enjoy out-of-combat 4-leg run.

I despise the new animation. Maybe it’ll come to grow on me or something, but I doubt it.
I loved the old animation for the very reason that it was bouncy and perhaps a little comedic. This is after all, an MMO that doesn’t overly take itself too seriously, which I’ve always loved.
I stow weapons out of habit. I guess I’ll have to avoid this now, just to not see the new animation…

I have played a charr for over 1000 hours and I can confirm there has been an update to the charr running animation while in combat AND with the weapon sheathed. Before hand, they ran in a lanky weird fashion, now they run in a slow hulk run, like a football player :o Thanks, Anet, love the new animation! Now revert the Elementalist nerf and give us more viable builds! Also, fix the Rune of Vampirism, I am so freaking srs.

And yeah i miss old one. Perhaps Areananet should at least make an animation option in setting EXCLUSIVELY for Charr (or with other races) perhaps?
Cause i think the new one is like…just jogging or spying while the old one is a little more active. Maybe Arenanet should put the old animation as main animation (walking running) and the new one when battle. (I think running with 4 hands are not my taste at all.)

The football player effect is exactly why I dislike it, personally.
I mean it’s great for my Charr Warrior. But when my thinly built scrawny female Elementalist does the same thing…
The old one was a cool brisk jog, where the new one makes me think I should have a football in my hands at all times.

The jog looked a tad daft though since the animation made it seem like we should be moving faster than we really would be. I think charr movement animations were made independently of the decision they would be larger and have the same movement speed as other races, or something. The less energetic one looks more fitting to the real speed(s) IMO.
What did the old running style look like? Anyone have any videos of that?
I finally got what you guys were talking about last night. And yeah, I missed the old bouncy steps. Now they look too human when two-footing it, which doesn’t make sense for a digitrade foot.
I don’t understand how anybody can prefer the new one. The old was so energetic and full of life. It didn’t matter how many enemies wanted my ele dead. Didn’t matter how much death and destruction was around. Nothing would get her down; she just skipped away not giving a kitten. Now, she looks like an old lady out for a morning jog because the doctor recommended it. Plus, Anet didn’t even change the combat strafing animation to match the new one. Now, we have characters with completely different movement for no apparent reason.
I like the new one. Its more realistic. Bouncy charr look silly.
