Something that bothers me
Something that bothers me a little more than it should
Why do most of the horn sets you can choose at character creation are growing backwards?
That makes no sense at all, like why would a specie develope horns that grow towards their backs. Any one else finds this stoopid?
Better for a strike aimed at the head/neck/shoulders to strike a horn than the intended target?
Why indeed?

It happens a lot in real life.
Horns are just as much for defense as they are for offense. When creating my Charr, I thought about protecting my neck from an decapitating slice rather than impaling someone with my head. In fact, if it were safe and easy to use our horns to offensively, why would we bother with weapons at all?

Also, horns that go backwards are good for headbutting, I mean look at a ram and it’s horns and then a battering ram.
Look at how their bodies are so heavily shouldered and naturally curved down, it would stand to reason that the natural way of using horns for defense for them would to be to lower their heads, and for an offensive strike, bring the head up and impale the victim from underneath. Also, horns facing back like that have less of a chance of shattering under heavy impact than forward facing ones. (I know I’m reading into this waaay too much and it’s just really artistic design lol, but I figured why the hell not).

Compared to some real life horns, charr horns are quite sensible….
That grow that way so Asura can have handle-bars when they ride on our shoulders Master Blaster style.
Animals with horns that grow pointing backwards also sometimes use them for grooming.
Some horns are for gouging, like those on a bull, and others are for ramming, like… well, a ram.
