We know from Lore, and from how Flame Legion treats female NPC’s in the game that female charr are still enslaved in Flame Legion society, and considered to be inferior to men.
So just where are these female charr in service to the Flame Legion? They aren’t slaving away in the mines—the Grawl are used for that. They aren’t to be found as servants or breeders in the Citadel of Flame either. But we know they must exist, somewhere.

What are they like, do you suppose? Silent rebels, waiting for their chance to rise up as Kalla did generations ago? Zealots, brainwashed in their devotion? I would love to find out. I hope in the future, Arenanet will add content that lets us get a deeper look into Flame Legion, and perhaps meet their women.

Away from the front lines like in GW1, I suppose.

Only fools and heroes charge in without a plan.

Maybe they’re like Kzin and the females are bred into stupidity or something…

I don’t think a whole lot has been revealed about how and where the Flame Legion keep their (unfortunate) femcharr in the current time, but before Kalla lead the rebellion to win femcharr back their rights and freedom, the Flame Legion essentially enslaved all their femcharr and kept them far, far away from the front lines and they were only allowed to be in the Flame Legion’s home territory.

This is just speculation on my part, but this is what I think is a good possibility with the femcharr and Flame Legion in the present.

First, I would expect that most femcharr would have joined Ash, Iron, or Blood in Kalla’s rebellion — that or just flee in the initial confusion. Pretty much only those who were unable to escape (be they too young, too old, injured, or restrained) would be the ones who were stuck with the Flame Legion. So by default, Flame would have a far greater number of males to females and I suspect that the only femcharr within the Flame Legion were either born there or were captured by Flame as I can’t see any femcharr willingly going to Flame. Males yes since they might stand to gain something, but females would lose everything by defecting.

Anyway, like Flame did in the past, I suspect that femcharr are kept back at their main camp as slaves and, if one is lucky, a cook. That would be as free as they could be since after Kalla’s rebellion, Flame is likely even more restrictive and less forgiving than they were. Femcharr would mostly be used as slave labour and for the males’ enjoyment and that would be it — they wouldn’t be allowed out of sight or given any opportunity to train or obtain a weapon. And for those that would strike out, they would likely either be flogged, tortured, or killed outright.

The lack of substantial numbers of femcharr in the Flame Legion would also explain why Flame has to recruit a lot of their members — unlike the other three legions, they can’t reproduce at a rate which keeps their numbers level or even grow.

While I think there is a reasonable chance that some femcharr in the Flame Legion are biding their time until they can strike back, or at least plant seeds of dissent among their younger members, Flame has probably done a lot to brainwash them and give the femcharr Stockholm Syndrome. Any charr born into the Flame Legion who happens to be female is likely indoctrinated from the moment they are born and throughout their lives to be the perfect, meek slave that Flame thinks all femcharr should be. Flame underestimated femcharr once and it cost them greatly, I don’t see them willingly letting history repeat itself by not changing what allowed Kalla’s rebellion to happen in the first place.

That’s what I think may have happened/ be going on.

In any case, I also hope that Arenanet eventually touches on life within the Flame Legion. Perhaps when the Blood or Ash homelands and main cities are added. I think Blood’s home territory is actually constantly being attacked by Flame Legion and is closest to Flame’s base so if we get Blood’s base my guess is we’ll get a good dose of Flame lore to go with it.

The diabolical exports of the Flame Legion’s homeland fill kitchens, toasters and freezers everywhere. Soon, they shall infiltrate the Black Citadel itself.

But on a more related note, I think that the Flame Legion would keep them somewhere ridiculously far away from the frontlines and their surrounding lands. What do you find on a battlefield? Weapons and enemy soldiers. Just having them in Ascalon or Fireheart Rise would be a huge risk, especially since the Charr military would probably mobilize a small army for the sole purpose of raiding whatever location they were at and freeing them from their tyrannical grip.

This is covered a little bit if you do the shaman boss even in the top northwest of the Iron Marches zone area. You can jump through the walls to get to the event but there is to the best of my knowledge still no reward for doing this boss like event. I wish I could remember the names of the npc characters there.

However when you win you notice a whole group of a all female Charr warband standing around. The same group that you jumped in to help with the fight. As you speak with them you find out one of them used to be a slave to the flame legion. You learn how she was rescued, tortured, really everything about her. You learn something different from each npc you speak with.

I recommend going in search of this event and meeting the npc’s I am speaking of. You won’t regret seeing the fight or reading the story afterward.

Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fycd24tplks He doesn’t speak to the npc’s though.

During my personal story, I remember the Flame Legion attacking an area with supplies that I needed to get, and the Flame Legion leader there made a comment to the last remaining Charr there (a female Charr at that) about “how easy women have it in the Flame Legion” (I don’t remember the details), to which she replied “You want to demote me to fry cook?!”

So yea, I think that sums up female Charr in the Flame Legion: relegated to cooking, cleaning, sewing, and taking care of the young, just like real life women used to. Perhaps if the Flame Legion became more equal opportunity employers like the other Legions, maybe they could actually reclaim the power they once had.

Cooking can be a fairly masculine occupation, though I think the flame legion tends to relegate their females toward domesticity exclusively. I wonder if there are any charr females that voluntarily joined the flame legion, though I can’t imagine there’d be many that would do that without forceful coercion. Maybe they’re just super devoted to shamanistic practices? Perhaps to some charr, their powers and burning effigies create awe in those individuals who have a predisposition toward cultish fanaticism.

They are all loving, stay at home moms, who make great home cooked meals for the entire family, as well as taking their kids to their extracurricular activities.

But seriously, I have heard enough propaganda from the High Legions that I don’t take everything I hear from them as absolute fact.

If you play the blood storyline you pretty much hear it from flame themselves in one mission.

I saw the title of this thread and read “The Women of Flame Legion” and debated internally (because there are none) if you were trying to ask for a pinup calendar.

In an early personal storyline, which may require being a female Charr, someone makes a comment about joining the Apron Legion in reference to Flame females.

Here’s a pic that’ll clear up some doubts, but yeah, most of them are cooks and homekeepers it seems.

WARNING: If you’re a female Charr in the Blood Legion this might be a bit of a spoiler.

That actually happens regardless of what you are, since they’re talking to her. There’s an Ash mission ‘Spy for a Spy’ that’s slightly different (and funnier) if you’re female though.

In ‘Spy for a Spy’ I was a FemCharr. I had to dress up as a guy! Though the costume looked pretty good. The sentry at the front, when I talked to him during the cutscene, my voice sounded a little deeper, but he asked me if I had a cold. Then I just reverted back to my normal voice. All I can say is, not only are the Flame Legion troops sexist losers, they also can't tell the voice difference between males and females. The mission just made me hate the Flame Legion even more.

I love all things Charr. They’re badkitten!

I did find it amusing that the other guy knew instantly. Either you flash him or something, or those flame legion guys have been lurking in that cave waaay too long.

I think the former. Though it could be the latter, but I killed their Shaman before, so maybe they’re just really bad at remembering? And yeah it was pretty funny, how he’s like “You’re a female?!”
