Started out as just another engineer grunt, and through a year of RP and the collapse of 2 previous warbands and one company, is now guild leader & legionnaire, and trying to rebuild.

I have a headcannon too, Stormdancer, between my main charr. When I create characters in games, histories, personalities and everything else just comes together. I have to know who the character is to play them (as nerdy as that probably sounds) but it’s real fun to do.

After executing the huge undertaking which is slaying an entire Skritt army, my Charr named his Warband the “Shiny Warband”

Vilius Leatherbelly: Skinny, larcenous Ranger with shortbow

My namesake character’s a Centurion, but I haven’t given her a last name. She’s a member of the Soul warband, Iron Legion.

Ryder Sparklepuff is Legionnaire of the Sparkle warband, Blood Legion. I’ve seen other fabulously themed warbands as well.

Dagryl Shatterblaze is a member of the Shatter warband, Ash legion.

Warband of the Wild

All My Charr, th Frostfangs originally, 4 siblings were raised in the wild in the Northen shiverpeaks Close to the border off Blood legion homelands… They have learned the importance of balance in nature. When its being shifted (by dragons awaking, villains trying to take over the world, war between races, etc), chaos and death will follow…. Their goal is to help restore that balance!

On arrival To black citadel they have signed up for either Blood or Ash Legion.

They are:

Ao Kima, Ranger, Blood Legion
Oa Faru, Guardian, Blood Legion
My Ganga, Mesmer, Ash Legion
Ice Frostfang, Elementalist, Ash Legion The only one who have chosen to keep their familys original name.

Le sigh. Ended up retiring my old Forge warband concept/character, but was morbidly curious about the new player experience. So, Garus Trailforge is kicking back whiskey in that Black Citadel in the sky.

But, after much thesaurus.com searching and trying to find a good warband name for Blood legion, I stumbled on Thunder.

And so, Eidol Soulthunder, ranger and ghost-hater extraordinaire!

I never thought to actually make my charr in the same warband…
I have:
Zherain Sparkvice, of the Vice warband. Engineer.
Skarlath Furysteel, a warrior of the Steel ’band.
Brio Shadowstrike sneaks around in the Strike warband like the thief she is, and
Dappa Deadsmile, ranger, is telling stupid jokes in the Dead warband.

I’d imagine warband names would be reused? Surely after generations it would become very difficult to think of names outside of what had already been used. I’m also presuming that the different legions would have no issues with having the same named warbands within their ranks, at the same time.

I thought I was being original for the Mist warband (a group known for their dual reverence/dismissive perception of death, Ash Legion), but it turns out there’s a few NPCs with that already. Grr. :\

A little more searching, but I haven’t seen a Thunder warband. Blood Legion. (Implied Blood and Thunder jokes here.)

There is a wall that supposedly has the names of every warband in BC… but I somehow doubt that (maybe all iron legion? or all warbands that did something HUGE).

Of course, I don’t think repeating warband names are a bad thing. I mean there is the group of ash legion female char who are the Scorch warband (named after Kalla Scorchrazor)

That wall contains names of warbands that have fallen, filing their duties.
Glorious warbands, whom sacrificed themselves for the Legions.

Acantha Brandscar – Scar warband (blood legion, has a connection with the brand. not just because she’s a mesmer)

It’s a pun by fellow comrades who attached the name to this blond, tall charr.
Other names were more serious (Flintlock, Warlock, Smashlock, Safelock, Mistlock, Oclock, …)

@Rheagar: no offense, but your warband’s name is not your surname. You surname or war name would be usually made of the warband’s name and a personal descriptor.
Tribun Rytlock is of the Stone warband, and his war name is Brimstone, Brim being his personal affix.
Either yours is Letter or Blood. You can let out guts, brains, oil, scream, fire …
In rare cases, or with gladiums, the surname may be like any other nickname (the Bloodletter).

So Dale (I regret not using dael since both mean valley in English, the latter being the old version), warband, Ash Legion Mesmer.

My first Charr I made was called Nine Devils. Not exactly a lore based name, and it didn’t lend itself to a warband name at all. It’s really more of a nickname anyway.

However, my ranger Kurn Ghostblade came across several other people who had either Ghost or Blade in their name, and things sort of took off from there. It wasn’t an often thing to see, but I made it a point to intoduce my ranger to anyone who’s name potentially fit the warband.

My fiance made her Charrdian Tesh Whiteblade, and that helped too.

I had not intended to actually create a warband for my Ranger, but hey – kitten happens, and I rolled with it. I think it was a good thing.
