400-500 JC-ing Material List

Jewelcrafting 400-425: refine ori ore. A lot of it. Crafting booster (again, not included in the calculations) will reduce the amount of ori needed to refine.
425-500: exotic recipes, much the same as the other Grandmaster crafting disciplines.
Time to start hoarding all that ori and T6 jewels.
For Grandmaster Chef I’d like to see ecto get thrown into the mix. :P Probably won’t happen, but it’s a material usable by all other crafting disciplines.
PS: atm, it’s a very cheap Grandmaster title (jewelcrafting), but if you go in prepared, it shouldn’t cost you anything except for karma (if you haven’t already bought those recipes).

when you say ‘a lot of it’, I tend to think 1000 ori ingots. you don’t need anywhere near this much. closer to 200 ingots. I made that mistake on tailor. crafted about 900 goss bolts, but found that around #200 or so it was already at 425.
425 to 440 I usually craft T6 potions or runes. as jeweler has no consumables, maybe gemstones and jewels will give exp at this point?
440 to 450 requires discovering 2 or 3 exotics (depending on luck – really annoying when you’re at 449.9, but can’t do anything about it)
450 to 475 slow way = refine ascended materials. fast way = discover about 5 exotics.
475 to 500 = discover about 12 exotics.
this is all with a crafting booster.
19 exotics should require about 304 ori ingots + 95 ecto + 95 gems.

Well, no. What I mean with a lot of, is maybe 3 stacks of ore worth. The gw2crafts.net page says ~600 +/- so I’d be safe and craft on the ‘heavy’ side of that and just sell off the excess for a profit if it’s not needed.
If you hold that general rule on all crafts and have more than you need then you’re never caught short, and you can always hock off the rest for a tidy sum.
Regarding levelling from 425 – 500 I know what works best for me but following advice on gw2crafts.net is also very helpful. Personally I just wish crafting boosters came in 30min versions because I’m crafting from 400 – 500 in barely 10mins each time. One hour seems like such a waste if you use alt’s to get to 500 for each discipline and barely use even 1/6th of the allotted time for the crafting booster.

Even if you could do it for just 400-600 ori ore, that’s a lot of raw mats. I don’t foresee people going out and farming up 600, nor do I see as many preparing for this (maybe with the orbs, but not as many with the ori). My thoughts behind this are that no one is for sure if ascended jc-ing will just be ascended jewelry or if it’ll include infusions. If it does include infusions, then I can see a lot of people doing it. If it doesn’t, I don’t think many will (since ascended jewelry is easily obtained in other ways).
If you see the price of something like orbs spike just before the release/after the announcements, I would sell it then (before the crash). If it doesn’t, then it’ll go up during. Orbs are a very safe investment either way though. At worst you can just npc them and get the vast majority of your coin back (presuming you started getting them early enough to get them at very near npc price).
Ori is a fairly stable commodity as well. Even if JC-ing isn’t that appealing it’s still used for enough other things to where that market won’t crash and burn.

Guys, you know Ascended jewelcrafting probably wont be a thing becasue… you know fractals… the whole trinket system tied to it? In case of weapons and armor the crafting was implemented in first in the dat, then boxes were just added so that people in higher level fractals didnt fish for skins, but trinkets have kinda no reason to exist in jewelcrafting because you get them for 4-10 pristine fractal runs (depending on luck) and a bit of time with laruels.

You can’t get all the stat combos from those (like carrion which will be from chrysocolla). It may well also include infusions (as they are like the ascended version of jewels you can slot in). If the prior is in there, it won’t be such a big deal. If the latter is in there as well, it’ll be a thing.
Also not everyone does fractals. I find them to be horribly boring and repetitive myself. That leaves laurels/commendations. If you have alts… that’ll take far longer than gathering up 66g for the initial cost (of which you’ll get a lot back).
The risks are VERY low on this one as long as you get in on it early.
I see no reason why not to when you could npc some of these orb types and only lose a few copper…

I wouldnt be surprised if transmogrifying ascended jewels starts at 450.

I would rather refine ori than sprockets until 425. Its also not very useful for leveling in the other regions as well because every trinket and the jewel needs a recipe to be learned, so no discovery. As the trinkets are account bound, they have no resale value as well.

You can get 42 ori ore per character per day as well as those orbs. I probably have a full stack of them from when I used to farm the nodes.
This is going to be cheap and easy, I have at least 2 stacks of every 400 orb.

You also have 3500 ectos and 14000 ori ores to transmogrify all those orbs to exquisite jewels?

Why? People will follow the guide to the letter and make them themselves.
If you’re planning to attempt to stock up and make a profit, you’re better off going for just the basic ingredients (ore, orbs, ect) rather than convert them to the next step. The only exception being if there is a profit in doing so such as there is (haven’t checked in weeks but assume there still is) with damask cloth.
The reasoning behind this is that supply will be more fluid and have a greater chance of making a sale. If you wait too long then you run the risk of demand decreasing or supply increasing which will decrease the price and lower your projected profit.

Or not follow the guide at all and just wing it and go from experience garnered from crafting to 500 in other disciplines. A certain method goes a long way and can reduce on unnedded materials and time spent crafting.

Is this JC 500 definitely going to happen? or is this just pure speculation?

There are items in game that are already linked to JC 500, so it’s 100% confirmed.
Chef 500 is not guaranteed, however.
It’s been awhile since I read the update when they first announce crafting going up. I thought it was said “all” crafting professions will be going to 500 or something like that.
And this is just speculation, I thought they may give a grandmaster crafting title. It would seem odd to have a title like that, if they did which would be 7/8

We’ll expand all crafting professions to allow them to reach a new milestone: 500 points!
