If you want to craft the whole ascended light armor you will need 43 silk scrap ! yes 43 stacks !
It’s totally crazy …..

why such an amount ? bolt of damask requires 100 bolt of silk (deldrimor and the others components only require 50) and bolt of silk requires 3 silk scrap (2 for others components) …….

Price of silk will inevitably increase ….

11 days more to craft a light armor, crazy huge amount of materails …. do Anet want us to kill our caster character and reroll warriors ? I can’t understand …..

Yes, in the beginning silk prices will increase. Then they will go down again. Mithril is still more expensive then silk. If silk prices get to high, just salvage the cloth items you find.. also it is not like you need to craft a bolt of damask every day, just take your time.

I don’t think silk will go down for quite a while. I think for the first time more silk is going out of the economy then coming in. I suspect it will rise for a while before stabilizing.

Silk could do with a little price increase, before ascended armor it was sold near vendor value on TP.

the point is, you need
tailor – 36 days
leatherwork – 23 days
armorsmith – 25 days

to craft the full set

For a complete set that increases stats at a negligible margin.

Traders. But 43 stacks of silk scrap = 14 stacks of silk bolts.

I have played my normal play pretty much every day since GW2 was released and I still had to buy stacks of silk to make the Damask for my leather set i am building first. I haven’t even thought about starting my light set yet…If you managed to gather 43 stacks during your normal play I recommend stepping away from the computer more often. That much play time is not healthy for anyone.

Eh I had more than 43 stacks. Had enough silk scraps to make around 70 stacks of bolts. Sold about half and kept enough bolts for myself to craft damask on 3 accounts for the next month.

It was actually sold less than vendor price, and the highest price you could sell silk at was.. at vendor price. So a lot of people would just vendor it to get the maximum amount of money. XD

Heck, I’ve sold like 6 full stacks of silk to the vendor, haha.

They invested into the wrong material. If Ascended Weapons were anything to go by, you don’t actually need that much T6 materials for crafting Ascended gear. They’re needed only to craft the inscriptions/insignia. T2 – T5 materials will be needed in far greater quantities.

While you’re right, the demand for T6 is slightly higher now so logically the mats should have held their value if not increased slightly.

Don’t worry folks if it hits 1g/ silk bolt something will be done.
Rock-bottom prices are minimum vendor prices – we all got used to 8copper /silk scrap for far too long (>6 months)
If supply gets exhausted – ANET will probably reduce the cost of crafting the bolts again to what they were previously.

On the gossamer scraps – they are great for crafting into bolts (lvl 400-425) a nice easy craft lowering the number of exotics you will need to craft overall to get to lvl 500.

Like any change they will probably wait a while to see how this turns out.

Just keep watching and be patient.

That would never happen, and if it did, it’s entirely greedy people’s fault for wanting their ascended armor faster than Anet designed it to be done.

And how is that? The only way speculators make money is when people’s greed makes them willing to pay the highly speculated price.

It will crash soon enough. Some of us are sitting on 100+ stacks of silk still
