A few posts here mention crafting mats to get from 450-475 and I wanted some details I couldn’t find in the other threads.
1) Why isn’t this mentioned in any craft guides like here http://gw2crafts.net/weaponcraft_400.html or here http://www.guildwars2hub.com/guides/crafting/guild-wars-2-weaponsmith-leveling-guide-400-500 ?
2) I believe the only things we can craft are Lump of Mithrillium, Deldrimor Steel Ingot, Glob of Elder Spirit Residue, Spiritwood Plank, Spool of Thick Elonian Cord and Elonian Leather Square. Is this correct? And with the once a day requirement won’t this be slow?
3) Many people in these threads mentioned the diminishing returns making this indefeasible past a point though some people say they made it all the way from 450 to 470. About how many of these would we need to craft to get to a good stopping point (460,465, 470 whichever is feasable)? I want to try to calculate how much this stage will cost me and how many days I will have to wait with the time gating.

Edit: I forgot in #2 about Bloodstone Brick, Dragonite Ingot, and Empyreal Star. Three more possibilities. Does that complete the list?

bloodstone, dragonite, and empyreal aren’t time-gated — they’re the ones you can store up to make the 450 → 500 part less expensive. I think I focused on these through around 460-465, but this depends how much you’ve stored and how quickly you want to get through it. (I used a crafting booster, so at some point waiting would make it more expensive if i let that expire … though I have enough from dailies/etc that I probably won’t use them all up.)
gw2crafts.net has a guide for 400→500, but it doesn’t assume use of these materials (which may or may not be available for your second pass through).

Completely incorrect. You can only craft those items after you reach level 500, and we still can’t craft those leather based items. At least, weaponsmith and artificer can’t. I haven’t finished Huntsman yet.

From 400 to 425 you craft ancient logs to planks and Ori ore to ingots. One stack of each material should be enough to reach level 425 if you’re using maximum crafting boosters.
From 425 to 450 you have to “discover” around 8 or 9 exotic weapons from the craft you are leveling (also using maximum crafting boosters). Artificer can also discover a number of potions. It’s also possible here to discover rare level gear but the crafting xp isn’t all that good.
From 450 to 475 you can craft all your bloodstone stuff, dragonite and empyreal stuff. That stuff turns white at 475 and you get no more crafting xp from crafting them.
From 475 to 500 you’ll have to “discover” around 12 exotic weapons, or a lot of rares, or for artificing, potions.
After 500 you can start to craft Lump of Mithrillium, Deldrimor Steel Ingot, Glob of Elder Spirit Residue, Spiritwood Plank and they weapons that use those materials.

Huntsman can craft the leather. It is needed for bow strings.

Well, no.
Once you reach 450, you can craft the timegated (“daily”) items: Mithrillium, Elder Spirit Residue and – if you are a huntsman – also Elonian Cord. Refining those into Deldrimor Steel, Spiritwood Planks and Leather Squares is also possible already.
Consequently, you want to level to 425 by material refinements and to 450 with exotic discoveries, like stated above. At 450, I always started with just crafting the daily items until I reached the amounts I needed for the weapons I wanted to get. Once I had enough, I waited until a thursday/friday for high WvW bonuses and used a crafting booster. Then I refined all the Steel/Planks (and maybe Squares), as well as the Bloodstone Bricks, Empyreal Stars and Dragonite Ignots, which brought me to about 467-470.
For the last part, you want to discover exotics again, which give roughly 3 levels each. So you will need 10 if you actually made it to 470 before (if you have material for 2-3 weapons or convert lots of additional dust), otherwise 11 or maybe even 12.
Though you can get to 475 with refinements, those start to give less and less experience from 470 onwards. If you have tons of material you want to craft anyway or you don’t care about karma resp. obsidian shards you put into additional bloodstone bricks (since you drown in dust), then feel free to max that out and safe an additional 1-2 exotic crafts.

The last part (after 500) is certainly wrong — you can craft ascended mats at 450. E.g. see:

— you can craft both of those at 450. You can’t craft a lot (unless this is your second crafting discipline and you’ve stored up Lump of Mithrillium etc), since the former is account-bound and the latter requires the former — but you can get some of the path from 450 to 475 with them.
You can’t use Deldrimor Steel Ingots further until level 500.
I think the estimates about numbers of exotics are approximately correct. And if you’re short only a little at the end it’s cheaper to discover a few rare recipes (the base experience is 0, but you do get the discovery rewards, and for level-80 rares this isn’t too bad).

Good to see that other site still hasn’t updated their copy of my guides, thus leaving in old errors.
Anyways, my guides assume that you only have access to materials that can be purchased from the TP or from a Master Craftsman(except for Renown Heart cooking). I added the 400-450 guides for people that want to go farm account bound material from chests/champs/etc.
While it certainly makes sense to refine mats from 450~475, the 15 refines that are actually required and can’t be purchased from the TP barely give 4 levels if you did them exactly at 450(2.5 levels if you did at 460, etc), which comes out to 11g25s(75s*15).
Assuming you started at 450 for both examples and there are 0 critical crafts, discovery prices are based off current guide and TP prices.
1 exotic discovery = 11 refines. Or 5g98s9c(discovery) vs 8g25s (refine)
2 exotic discoveries = 21 refines. Or 12g18s24c vs 15g75 s (refine)
The focus of my guides is and will be on lowest initial gold costs of materials for normal guides while making sure the materials used are readily available to everyone for gold.

According to the prices I just looked up it is significantly cheaper to craft Spiritwood Planks and Deldrimor Steel Ignots than to buy or even order them in the TP. As you need them for your weapon anyway, I see no point in not using those for crafting xp too.
Also, assuming that there are no critical crafts makes it certainly easier to calculate, but not realistic, especially if you deliberately try to get crits (with a booster and choosing a good day regarding wvw/guild bonus). Since discoveries always give bonus xp, they get away far better in this comparision than they actually are.
