Is there anything I can do to make a profit besides BLT? Thinking maybe along the lines of crafting exotics for mystic toilet for a precursor but 5 ectos AND an imbued seems reckless to me

No, just sell them.

Take a look at some of the high end exotics, Vision of the Mists and the like that require 250 Orichalcum things. Some of those can turn a handy profit when made.

Sometimes you can make better profit by selling more refined crafting components (hilts, blades, etc.) than ori bars alone.

Besides, sellin 6000 bars at once would be stupid. Either someone will place lower price and you will wait long time or price may go up for a while and then you will loose possible extra gold.

Normally I would just say spend it all on gearing alts, but 6000 is ridiculous o_O

Amusingly, I am in the same boat, and I keep mining more regardless. I look at my bank slot filled to the brim with Orichalcum every night and go “I can craft the universe, mwah!”

How the heck did you get that much Ori? Even with the daily gathering in Orr, I don’t have my stack of 250 yet.

Then again, I find gathering Ori tedious and don’t seek out every node every reset, so that could be part of it…

Salvage of lvl 70+ (maybe 75+?) whites / blues also gives Ori, the rate that it can pile up is pretty impressive.

Hmm, perhaps I should start salvaging my blues again instead of vendoring them…

Back in the day when the rich ori vein in SSC existed, you could mine it with all of your characters once every 24 hours. Consider that if you had 8 characters, that’s 10-20 (avg 15 without boosts) per character per day, which is 8×15×7 = 840 orichalcum ore in a week, or 420 ingots. Now flash forward ~3 months and that’s 8×15×7x12 = 10080 ore / 2 = 5040 ingots just from that vein. If you also collected the other 2 nodes in SSC and took advantage of server resets well, you can imagine how this explodes fast.

The rich ori node was badly abused and the login-mine-logout-switchchar was arguably against ToS but there is no way for Arenanet to fix the damage short of some heavy-handed action. For example, they could “disappear” collections of materials in an account above some limit, or they could adjust the gem exchange rate based upon total item and gold holdings.

Which salvage kits do you use?

I use master salvage kits. I burn through my Ori pretty fast whenever I notice a pile of 70+ ore sitting in my bank, but I rarely hit nodes, most of what I get comes from salvage.
