Before Guildwars 2 was released, heard a lot of talk that the developers of the game wanted to get away from forcing players to do a lot of farming. Well, that is devinantly not the case as you have to farm a crap load of blood, totem, venom sacs, etc to just get one skill up. Be nice if they added some minor recipes that don’t require these mats to skill up on. I don’t mind a little farming, but to spend several hours of killing one type of mob to just get enough bloods to make two peices of armor just brings back memories of World of Warcraft. Especially since the armor you make with them is pretty much worthless in the Trading Post where people are selling the items for 1 copper over vendor prices. Kinda makes the whole tradeskilling skills pointless.

While I agree to a point, I don’t think the situation is nearly as bad. 1) You should get most of your skill ups via DISCOVERY (tons of bonus XP there), not crafting. I made that mistake early on too and struggled. 2) Buy stuff on the trade post. Seriously, if you don’t have enough blood, just buy some. Getting money is far easier, faster and more fun than farming the same enemy type for hours.
