Hello

At the time of writing, I’m lvl 52 and am pretty new to the whole crafting thing (currently at 75 leatherworking; 25 jeweller, following a guide).

I generally just mine/gather/chop all the nodes I come across and salvage items marked as ‘Salvage Item’. I TP everything that isn’t meant for my 2 disciplines and vendor everything else (junk, drops, …). I I’m always short on the needed materials to follow along with the guide so I buy the stuff I’m short on from the TP (good idea or huge loss of gold?) because I don’t have the time nor persistence to farm.

My main question is: how much gold would it take to level 1 discipline to 400? A rough estimation will suffice.

Second question: any tips to improve my playstyle (as described above) to better benefit my crafting? (should I just salvage everything for example?)

Thanks in advance =)

1. Would depend on the craft your trying to master. Some require more than others. I just finished jeweler. It is the only craft that requires globs of ectoplasm to master and those can only be attained by salvaging level >74 rares with the most expensive salvage kits.
2. Salvage any white and blue loot you happen to get with a basic salvage kit. especially the ones worth <40 copper because they give fine crafting materials.

Tailor took me around 4-5 golds, but i did it in one time without making advantageous offers on craft materials i needed.
Cook took me around 2 gold, it is in my opinion the cheapest one. But do not hope to make any profit with this profession, like the others the stuff are under-evaluated.
For Leatherworker, i don’t really remember, I think it took me around 6-7 golds but I am not sure, and since the market has changed a lot.

For Jeweler, i thought about raising it to 400, but making calc convinced me to don’t do that because the costs seemed really high even compared to weaponsmith or armorsmith. Plus the rentability is minimal or negative at lvl 400.
