I have 500 in Tailor and Artificer. It seems like I need to drop either one and go trough that crafting hassle just to get Weapon smith to 500 to get a dagger? That is ridiculous…

If you’re going to level weaponsmithing, level it on another character (weapons are account bound when first crafted), that way you don’t have to drop Tailor or Artificer.

Armani sucks at crafting kitchen knives.

Absolutely not worth dropping any 500 skill. As stated above, it is far better to level another character, get it 500 weaponsmith since you were going to do that anyways, and craft your ascended which are all account bound until equipped so you can bank them and pick them up on another toon. I do this a lot as 2 out of my 80s now have full weapon sets, sometimes double of same weapon for PvE and WvW for different stats, infusions and sigils.

Drop Tailor after you craft your armor.

(If you need to craft with tailor again, you will not lose your progress In getting to 500, tailor is not a good “flip stuff and make money craft,” <although buying mats and crafting Damask could get you a gold a day for now>).

Already having artificer, you can “double up,” on certain costs. Any expensive karma/laurel recipes for rare/exotic/ascended that you learned for artificer will carryover to Weaponsmith and you wolnt have to buy them again.
