Has there been any mention about getting ascended gear via something other than crafting?

I’ve never been a crafter until gw2, this mmo was the first that had a system that I actually enjoyed, and I even levelled all the artesanies to 400… just to find out this aberrant ascended thing…

Will we ever get methods like what we had with exotics? Like dungeon tokens, or wvw tokens?

Does somebody know if the ascended armors will also follow this wow-like system?

I don’t remember any mention of it and I can’t imagine them adding that after they already made everyone craft to 500 at this point.

Weapons are available as random drops in chests. Not sure if it’s any chest or just big ones like world bosses and temples. I’m pretty sure they are a very rare drop though.

You can also get Ascended weapons from WvW, like when taking a tower.

I’m yet to see an exotic from one of those chests or wvw events… and even if I got an ascended, it would be random… so I don’t those are very good means to get one…

They want you do buy gems.

Since gathering is a boring chore for most people; they’re hoping that you part with some of your money in exchange for the time you save.

Champ bag/box drops just like the weapons I’m sure. It’s super rare… like you should have used that rng roll in the forge to get a precursor rare.

Apparently the weapon chests are not “super rare” to come by in higher fractals. I see someone get a chest in every maybe 5th fractal that is 28-48? I got one myself the other night and to my amazement it was the stats I needed! Saved me 200g on Weaponsmithing.

I find that hard to believe. It is well known that the higher the fractal level the worst the drop… and the amount of fractal skins that I have proves me right. (it is a number between nothing and none)

Nah, they may drop in high fractal levels, but it is still super ultra rare, I don’t think I will ever do other than fractal level 10, I get more cores and lodestones there than in level 30 and way more faster :p I don’t even need agony resistance! (btw worst mechanic ever)

I got a basket of ascended weapons that I can pick one from, from a champion loot chest while doing one of Scarlet’s invasions. I was so shocked I can’t even decide what weapon I want from it yet! Their pink color doesnt go with any of my armors.
But yes, they do drop, so you dont have to craft them.

You could repeat fractals until you get an ascended weapon but even when it drops you cannot choose the stats. I did indeed get an ascended weapon from the fractal 28 end chest but it was a cleric’s weapon.

If you want to work for an ascended then you grind and craft it. If you want to just get lucky sometime then just play as you like and the perfect ascended might appear in a chest somewhere. It probably won’t but at least you’ll have enjoyed your time.

If the OP is asking if an NPC is ever going to SELL them (like Exotics in WvW), I highly doubt it.

Drops are more common than you think, but not as common as you would like. When it does and it’s the stats you want (for any of your set/alts) you might poop your pants. Otherwise fork out 200g.
