I have recently maxed tailor and want to start crafting my Light set , but the silk , leather and globs of ectoplasm requirements are HUGE , I don’t mind farming for it , I just want to know , Where can I farm silk and leather ? and for ectoplasm I am doing world bosses , is it the best way ? Thanks in advance !

Thick Leather Sections are only 9c each. Don’t bother farming for those.
As for silk, in theory rise in Orr and svanir in frostgorge would work.

You will also need a decent amount of the t2/t3/t4 cloth as well.

The event chain at the top of Harathi Hinterlands is pretty decent for cotton.

i did some adding up, you need a total of 10800 scraps of silk to make a set of ascended light armor. Buying scraps at 330 costs you rougly 360 gold.
At the time when ascended crafting was added, silk was the cheapest of all cloth types. I guess they went way overboard with making it 100 bolts per damask instead of the 50 units for all the other ecto craft items.

Light armor is a lot more expensive than the other ascended armor types. I believe it’s a price difference of around 130 gold. Don’t expect changes anytime soon though. It has been like this for almost a year.

Of course you could farm the cloths but it will be a tedious process which you have to repeat every day for at least a month.

The difference fluctuates depending on when you look at the prices. I’ve seen it go as low as 80 gold recently.

The way I do it is just try to make 10 gold a day.

Use that 10 gold to make 1 bolt of damask per day.

You can really do anything you want, dungeon, fractal, orr, frostgauge sound, dry top, EOTM… etc etc.

I tried to farm 300 silk scrap a day… Not very realistic, I say just farm 10 gold and buy the material.

world bosses for ecto are a great way to go. Don’t forget about exotic dungeon armor as well for ecto and dark matter (which you’ll also need). As far as silk farming? I found flame legion near the Citadel of Flame dungeon to be an excellent source for that. They drop bags, which contain silk, and salvagable items which also produce silk. Don’t forget to salvage any light armor gear you find as well, and dungeons are fantastic for that.

I would suggest farming GOLD in ways you enjoy playing and buying mats with Buy Orders to keep prices down a little. I think if you regulate yourself to farming the mats your going to burn yourself out.

But by the time you farm 1 stack of silk… You probably have enough money to buy 5 more.

Do you need ecto for ascended light armor? Are you salvaging the ecto for piles of crystalline dust?

For myself, I was lucky enough to get a precursor out of the MF, so I’m making a legendary that I plan to sell and use those funds to make my ascended armor (I don’t like the look of legendary weapons). Since I need a ton of T6 mats for the legendary, I am in CS a lot. I salvage everything I get there, and I’m saving up all my silk so that when I’m ready to make damask I won’t have to buy that part at least. So far I have about 1500 scraps, but I probably have a month left of farming to make the legendary, so lots of time to save up.

Get into WvW or EotM and find a nice Karma Train to join. Make sure to load up on buffs as much as possible via food, banners, campfires, guild activations, etc… You will make a ton of money and get loads of items but most importantly you will get a great deal of multiple currencies which can be converted into the materials you need. Skill points, Badges of Honor, Karma, etc… can all be converted into the materials you need provided you don’t need the currencies for anything else.

Also, don’t forget about material promotion and Mystic Clover making. Making Mystic Clovers doesn’t give what you are looking for but you can sell the products and buy what you need.

Silk used to be over abundant. Now, I cannot get enough. T2-T4 cloth are also in punitive material sink mode. It is really sad how one type of material is a choke on the game.

I use the forge sometimes for linen and silk…converting karma for the win!!

It is better for me to burn karma on obsidian shards.

U r going toneed a bucket load of empyreal shards/stars. Run dugeons, get shards and the gold from dungeon runs and just buy the mats. AC, TA and SE r quick. 2 paths each, thats 6g plus, per day for less than 2 hours. And 1 star per day. Ur going to need 15 stars for armor, that about 75 dungeon runs so u might as well start now.

You can also turn in your WvW reward tickets for obsidian shards.

Just do CoF P1 and other easy dungeons
