Bacon ?

Are you saying that the Devs deliberately left out bacon so not as to offend certain religions? I for one doubt this is the case; you can make food from clams (i.e shellfish) which is considered taboo food in one major religion and also I’d call into question the methods of killing the meat bearing animals which is central to the beliefs from another.
So bacon please.
While we’re on the subject of missing ingredients, why no honey? Honey glazed ham/poultry, honeyed pastries, honey roasted almonds, and of course mead…why no honey? I guess it got the axe to make room for the all-so-useful grapes.

Because the game features alcohol, I doubt this is it. At least I hope this isn’t it.
Food offers benefits, alcohol doesnt (im talking in game benefits like power).

He’s not talking about benefits, his point is, if Anet is so careful to not introduce certain things that might prove offensive to a certain type of person, then why introduce alcohol? Alcohol is generally seen as a negative beverage.
I, for one, am not offended by any of the above cases.
Because the only animal in the game that would make bacon is also a pet – warthog – not that that really matters
But yeah, why no bacon?! and there’s plenty of bees in the Human zone and there are some bee keepers in the Norn zone so where’s the honey?!

Right but if they added an item that gave an advantage, but it had issues with religion, that may be an explanation for it not being in game. Thats why alcohol would be allowed.
Bacon is nice but you know what this game needs?
Snails and frogs.

There are hamburgers in the game, which you can certainly make using meat from cows you slay, and 1 recipe requires Rice Wine, which is alcohol.
Plus, the whole “murder everything you see” thing the game has going is probably offensive to a lot of people. Which is not cared about.

I don’t think they never state what kind of meat is the one you find in the game, you might think in cow meat since that’s the most common meat is used to make an hamburger but in other countries they could use lamb, soy or w/e alternative meat and they will think on that alternative and not necessarily on cow meat
Bacon is so overrated. I’d rather be able to grill fish :P
Lack of bacon is a design oversight that I’ve been sad about since launch. Bacon makes everything better so it makes sense that GW2 would only be improved with the addition.
Bacon vendor of Tyria must have been located in the http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Great_Collapse and was never heard of again.
“Trivia: A Canthan district was already built into the game and polished, but had to be removed after negative feedback from the Asian market about the mix of various cultural architecture. Due to time constraints the district was then replaced by the Great Collapse.” I laugh when i see that trivia part on wiki, and remember the 1st time i read it… and said “seriously?!”

Achievements points.

Just as Red Meat and Poultry Meat are non-specific, White Meat could be non-specific and drop from boars, simioths, and other animals. This, in turn, could be used to make pork chops, bacon, ham sandwiches, BLTs, ham and/or sausage pizzas, raspberry glazed hams, sausages, ribs, and a host of other foods.
Because if there’s one thing this game needs more of, it’s food and ingredients to clog up our banks.
But yeah, why no bacon?! and there’s plenty of bees in the Human zone and there are some bee keepers in the Norn zone so where’s the honey?!
Wasps could drop honey, or perhaps it could be harvested with sickles from bee hive nodes or harvested randomly from trees when logging (or thrown into bags, along with butter, chocolate, and the rest of the leftover cooking materials).
I don’t think they never state what kind of meat is the one you find in the game…
Exactly. It’s “Red Meat”, not “beef”.

That’s…
But…

And as I made sure to say, you can get said red meat drops from cows. Meaning, oh no, I’m turning this cow into a hamburger.
I suspect/hope that in future expansions they’ll add more cooking ingredients and recipes. I would hope pork and fish would be among the ingredients and recipes like sausage, bacon, Sushi, calimari and fish tacos…

I was thinking about the lack of pork the other day and maybe it’s being saved for a future expansion with cooking.
Pork roast, all the soups and stocks. all the things with bacon mentioned earlier.
Pork, duck, venison, wild fowl, fish, shrimp, scallops, hare. There seems to be a lot left for future expansions. Which is awesome if true. The cooking in this game is truly fun.

That seems like a really odd objection. Do you hear Americans and Europeans screaming about how different Western architectural styles are mixed together? No? That’s because this is a game, not real life. And this is a game where walking plants breathe fire and giant bipedal cats can talk with intelligent frogs. You can suspend disbelief for that, but not for having a kind-of Korean house near a kind-of Thai house (or whatever it was)?
On-Topic: Bacon would be nice, but we already have so many different cooking ingredients I don’t want to see them add another one really.
Having been to Japan, I can totally imagine it. Many asian cultures hate each other with a passion Americans can hardly imagine – and one of the few things they can agree on is hating it just as much those times when the rest of the world can’t tell the difference between them .
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

No one is allowed to make bacon out of my pet pig!!!! Hands off :-)
Coincidentally I saw some pigs being raised by some Jotun and immediately killed them to see if they dropped bacon. I know, my previous post and all, I wasn’t sure if pigs were in the game or not, now I know they are! lol
Yes for bacon, honey and fish please.
the more ingredients for cooking the better, it is seriously the most fun craft
If we could only get a comsumables slot on the UI it would be perfect
No bacon? Because rangers charmed all the juvenile pigs, took them to dungeons and they all died in there. :P
My pet pig is named “Breakfast”.
Personally, I would like to see a lot of breakfast recipes added. Bacon and Eggs, Pastries, Donuts.
And beverages. Lemonade, Tea, and of course….COFFEE.
I agree with OP. Please make Bacon recipes available for the Cooking profession. How can ANet leave out the most important food of all?? Also would like to see a new category of recipes for drinks especially Coffee!!
P.S.: Some recipes including truffles, foie gras, sandwiches would be nice.

Again, seafood is in the game. Sea food in said game give advantages. Why no bacon.
