With the introduction of the wardrobe the price of beaded weapons has skyrocketed, making them hands down the best way to convert karma to gold:

Like the godskull weapons, each beaded weapon takes only a few T4 common mats for the weapon components, and uses 75 sun beads (1575 karma) in place of the inscription; for example:

Even as the price falls, beaded weapons are still level 60 rares. 3 level 80 rares and a level 60 rare is enough to guarantee a roll on the highest table of the mystic forge when forging rares for precursors. As long as precursor demand stays high, rare weapons will stay high, and you’ll bet better than 1:1 karma to gold converting in this way.

The main downside? It takes a LOT of clicking to buy all those sun beads. Better bind it to your mouse wheel.

I completely agree, but I would prefer to use these ideas to make a bit of gold before the word gets out. The other problem of course, is that Anet tends to nerf any gold-making ideas right into the ground. So let’s not be totally altruistic about this…

Basically this. There’s a lot of potential demand for these (precursor forging) and even in volume I’m pretty confident the market would support 3:2 copper:karma, which is way, way better than what a lot of people use to convert karma to cash.

There’s a lot of value from more action in this market for players on both sides of the exchange.

I had considered making these things a long time ago but after one weapon it was just way too much clicking. Did they add an option to maybe buy 10 beads at a time?

^ Not that I’ve seen. I bought 1500 Sun Beads a couple months ago to craft these to boost my various crafting skills for cheap, and now I’ll have to do it all over again… Ugh. My poor finger…

Of course, if Ensign’s post ends up flooding the market with cheaper Beaded weapons, I’ll happily just buy them to pad out my Wardrobe.

They’re decent money as far as karma conversion goes, but not worth the broken finger issue.

And I dunno about karma to gold conversions in general. Karma is harder to come by than gold as it is (though I hear WvW and / or PvP gives it to you in droves, though I wouldn’t know for sure as I don’t do those).

There are people out there who still thinks that crafting is not profitable based on their past experiences a long long time ago. Let them continue to think this way, so we can profit. There is actually very good gold to be made just by crafting at low levels, quite unlike when the game was just released. The new wardrobe helps to drive this too.

But don’t spread this too much so we can keep the supply of crafted goods low. Keep telling everyone that crafting sucks and that they are better off selling their crafting materials to the TP than level up crafting.

I learned this myself actually. I was making a couple gold a day by crafting [censored] but as soon as people saw what I was doing the price dropped from around 15% profit with an hour wait time between putting up for sale and it selling, to a 50% loss. In fact, according to GW2spidy it still hasn’t recovered, and I did this a few months ago. Players like me who make the decision to spread the word ruin it for people like me who use beaded weapons/ other low level crafts to level up low level alts and make a coin while doing it.

Yes crafting is a lot more worth it now because of:

Even those who have maxed crafting are building new characters using crafting for leveling and unlocking new skins at the same time.

2. Lower tier crafting materials are worth something now due to ascended crafting, etc. This is a little bit contradictory but think about it, lower tier crafting materials are not just gathering the nodes in low level areas, but many lower tier materials have to be salvaged. If you bring your level 80 to low level areas, chances are you would be getting higher level loot. The higher level loot salvage into higher tier crafting materials instead.

3. Karma. Completing the hearts and events again is a good fun way to earn lots of karma.

4. Recently there was a sale on character slots for a long time, so people are making new characters. This further drives up demand for low level gear.

not just clicking – space is very prohibitive for beads. If you want to make 100 beaded weapons, that’s 7500 beads (30 stacks).
so first, you have to sit there for 31 min to buy the beads (at 4 clicks/second), then you have to have no inventory space leftover :P
also, the merchant is not exactly located in a safe neighborhood :P kinda hard to do 7500 clicks while veteran risen are attacking you.

I really, REALLY wish that hylek would sell his beads in batches of 50. >.< Or even 10.

the profit on these items wouldn’t be nearly as high if it were easy to get the ingredient.
