Hi, guys, I am new to this game and just played for several hours.
My first character is an elementalist. I used to play WOW, but I found this game is so different.
I am here to ask several questions. For the first character, which two of the crafting will be of most benefits? Which kind of crafting is good for elementalists but may cost a lot? I mean financial and power benefits both aspects.

Besides crafting, I am also confused about some points. Really? This game does not have any healer professions? I notice some skills of elementalists could heal myself and allies. So, is one direction of elementalists to go healer instead of dealing damage?
My English writing is poor. Hope you guys could read my meanings.

Need help for understanding this game. Thank you!

Crafting in this game is more tailored towards giving you levels than crafting items and selling them for good profit.

Might want to learn cooking. Very cheap to max out and it benefits all classes.
This game has no specific healing professions – the holy trinity doesn’t exist in this game. Each class has their own respective healing skills that vary based on weapon and traits.

Thank you for answering.
I am still confused for healing, never mind, I guess I would know what you mean later on as I play more.
So one is cooking, what about the other one, any suggestions?

The most useful professions for Elementalist would be Artificer, Tailor, and Jewelcrafting.
However, unfortunately, crafting is quite expensive, even if you gathered yourself, since you can almost always sell the gathered materials for more than the cost of the items on the TP.
Because crafting generally costs more than it would to just buy the equipment, it’s more for the experience granted by leveling crafting (fully leveling a crafting profession 0-400 will grant 10 levels of experience) and for making Gifts for Legendary weapons (which are extremely expensive and you shouldn’t be worried about those for now)

As for the other question, no, there are no healer professions. Elementalist and Guardian have more healing capability than most, but it is still quite limited.
In a general sense, characters are fairly self-sufficient.
There are some support roles that can be filled, however, mainly through group buffs and combo fields. Elementalists are good at making Fire fields, which can be used to give Might to a group, and Staff has Water fields, which can be used to give regen and some modest area heals. Another option is the aura build, where you bring along aura skills and trait to make auras apply to nearby allies and give boons.

Thanks, very helpful for me. That would save me much time.
By the way, what kind of crafting could offer relatively good income? Or gathering ores and herbs could offer good money? Any websites give the refreshing points on the map of the herbs and ores?
I may ask too much. Sorry. Thank you very much!

There will be occasional profitable crafting recipes, but they’re rare, since they will be swallowed up rapidly by people looking for money.
By and large, all of them are unprofitable, because anyone can make the items.
Gathering is pretty much pure profit, however, since as long as you don’t use overleveled tools for what you’re gathering you can sell them for far more than the cost of the tools.

I agree on tailoring and artificing being the best crafts to have for an elementalist. Don’t worry about your income so far i have not been in much problems. Just sell what you gathered and don’t need on the Tradingpost and don’t buy too much normal materials on it. As long as you do tasks / events you should do fine on your income.

Note on farming: since everybody can use a farming node at the same time the respawning of a gathering spot is very long. Best to farm whatever is on your way ( the spots are on your radar/mini map ). Another good way to get materials is to salvage all white drops you get. the blue/green drops you can sell to any trader. the orange ( rare ) drops you can sell on TP or use them yourself.

There are very few guaranteed spots for gathering nodes, except a few that are guarded by veteran monsters. Most gathering nodes spawn in seemingly random places, and whenever servers reset, these places are swapped around.

It basically works the same as monster spawns: some are fixed, but most are random.
