Elzareth – Asura Mesmer
Best axe use
Elzareth – Asura Mesmer
Axe is a viable weapon for a Ranger and certainly for a Warrior. Check some of the many GW2 build websites out there for specifics (or ask / look in the Ranger forum).
Character slots are 20% off right now so the Warrior option has a bit of an economic upside.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
I’ve never had positive experiences with build websites. It literally just gives the build 99% of the time. And we all know it’s more than that. And when it’s with a profession like Ranger I don’t fully understand, it takes so long just to get the concept
Elzareth – Asura Mesmer
After the 15th it will stay account bound after use, so you will be able to switch it between chars when you use them and when/if you make a warr they can use it too
That being said I love axe on my necro and wish i had the patience to try crafting a legendary (esp Frostfang one of the best imo) and from my limited exp with ranger I really like the offhand skills on it.

Check the Ranger axe build in my sig for a good use of an axe. You will benefit more with the axe being on the ranger also as (imo) you want two or more axes with different stats (I have apothecary for wvw and zerker) whereas with the other classes, you will probably be sticking to one stat set. I have Frostfang on my warrior, I just wish I had put it on my ranger for this reason, although their themes would be totally different (Ranger is flame, war is ice).
Yeah, with the incoming wardrobe system, you can use it on all your axe wielding chars!
I made Frostfang about 6 months ago and it is a really nice weapon. Gave it to my Warrior. Warrior main hand axe is part of the meta and an important part of their highest DPS builds. Just give it to your Necro or Ranger now, and after April 15th you are able to give it to any other character since Legendaries become account bound.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
For dungeons and high end pve – Offhand for a ranger and Mainhand for a warrior.
