What’s the best crafting profession (or cheapest) to make lvl 80 rares that one can salvage into ectos?

I’m about to get huntsman soon after my alts level past 60-70 for the t4 mats. Are there other professions that will need cheaper mats to make lvl 80 rares?

To answer this question, you have to look at what you need to create rare items you can salvage. Silk and Leather are both very cheap, so Leatherworking and Tailor seem good. I don’t know much about jewelers. However, Elder wood and Mithril have always been more expensive, so Huntsman rares might not be very worthwile; selling those mats might net you more in the end (so that you can buy more ectos with your profits than you would have gotten yourself by crafting).

If you’re a ranger, thief, or engineer (given that you took huntsman), leatherworker is probably a good idea to progress your character later down the line, especially given the rather high prices of certain types of armor these days.

I agree. Leatherworking and Tailor might be the best choice as leather and silk are cheap and come in bulk when u salvage items from lvl 80 zones. Also it is easy to farm ingredients such as bones or venom sacks during few events in Orr. Recepie for rare insignia is only 1-2 event worth of karma.

Problem is that, either my luck is bad or the rate you get ectos from crafted armor is bad.

Jeweler Rares require Ectoplasm to make, so they’re right out. I’ve mostly used Rare Leather Boots or something.

Instead of salvaging rares you craft, ask which ones will give you money selling. This way, when you sell it, you get enough money to buy ectos.

Think about it, what’s a salvage kit going to do w/ % values when buying them from the TP is a 100% return rate?
