I’ve been stalled out for ages on my cooking because I ran out of sage and chili peppers and can’t afford to buy them. I’ve not found a single one harvesting in the past two or three months. Where are they all hiding? Or did someone change a one to a zero over at Anet, and accidentally set these herbs to a 0.00001% spawn rate?

If I’m not mistaken, those became karma vendor items. That’s why you can’t gt them on the trading post for cheap (all that are on there are from before they became karma vendor ingredients, so the price is extremely high) and why you cannot find them by harvesting.

Herb Seedlings, Verdant Herbs, Young Herbs, and Herb Sprouts. Since the drop is random, they’re hard to get.

I get chili peppers in the char zones like all the time. Really I do even going back to the beginner zones on my 80 makes those drop off seedlings. I was surprised too. They drop about as much as vanilla beans but aren’t as restricted to 2 zones like vb’s are.

Sage is another story entirely. I’m not even sure where to get that one.

Yeah, several plants are zone specific. Go to the 1-15 Charr area and pick some chilies.

If you use this guide, you don’t need Chili or Sage.

I had most luck with sage leaves from Herb sprouts in Snowden Drifts and Lornar’s Pass

The only place I’ve ever found Sage leaves in is the Fields of Ruin. Chilis on the other hand seem to be pretty common in the charr areas in general.

Sage leaves are typically found in any level 15-45 zones from herb sprouts and young herbs. And Verdant herbs in the level 60ish zones (though if I recall, the drop rate of vanilla beans on Verdant Herbs was boosted, so may lower your chances of Sage).
