Can someone confirm that I understand the requirements for Celestial armor correctly.

Crafting requires:

  • recipe for the insignia
  • recipe for each armor piece
  • 5 charged crystals per armor piece
  • 5 ectos per armor piece

7 recipes for account bound items sound expensive…

Are the stats available on other than crafted armor? Otherwise, I would need additional fine transmutation stones if I want another skin.

As far as I know, celestial armor can only be crafted, not dropped by any monsters/chests. And yeah, those are the requirements (plus ofc some basic T6 fabric and/or leather and/or metal)

However, I disagree that they are expensive. In between the recipes and the materials, you’re looking at a total cost of about 1.5 to 2.5 gold per armor piece, which is the same as the cheapest exotics available in the TP. It takes a whole lot of time, but in the end the total gold cost for an entire Celestial armor set is about half of what you’d pay for, say, a single piece of Sentinel gear (in fact, you could include the cost of leveling your craft from 0 to 400 and it would still be cheaper)

You’re assuming the price of quartz crystals doesn’t shoot through the roof once the Bazaar is gone?

I’m assuming that, just by doing your normal questing and dungeons while the event is still on, you’re gonna have enough quartz for a full set of armor – we’re not talking about investing time to farm the thing, it’s literaly being given to you in bulk for doing nothing out of the ordinary.
Since you can’t sell the armor, you only need to craft it once and be done with it. What happens with the price of quartz after that is irrelevant (unless you have to re-craft ascended Celestial armor from scratch, that is).

No not for my definition of normal. I’m now Basar Ambassador. I hava 8 charged crystals from the achievment and maybe more crystals for 1 or two more. That is my normals yields charged crystals for two armor pieces.

So you’re saying everyone and their mother will have 6000 crystals in their bank to cover all 8 characters they have? Granted they will get more from the home node, but in most cases the supply will be smaller than demand.

You need 8 months anyways to make enough charged chrystals to deck out 8 characters.

They limited the source and time gated the useful items for a reason. To preserve the rarity of this set for some period of time. I’m not saying I love the idea, but seeing how everyone and their brother’s pet (including myself) is running around with Celestial Weapons right now, I’m not sure it’s such a bad idea….

why for the love of dwayna would you deck out 8 characters with celestial armor? only certain classes would really benefit from wearing them

I have 3 toons, and none are running any celestial trinkets, weapons or amour. and no plans to do so. I would make a pretty safe bet that I am not the only one not using celestial.

In fact, I stopped creating charged crystals after the 8 I made for the achievement. I continue to mine it, but only to stockpile for after the event.

Probably a response to bots.

Bots can farm stuff 24×7, but if a resource only produces one a day, bots don’t get that great an advantage.

With all the negative reactions on the new celestial gear I really have to say that imo creating this whole set of armor incl. weapons has an epic feel to it even if I dont have to spend my whole time on farming gold. I get the “journey” and the emotional value of my equipment without actually doing something that isn’t fun. From my perspective this is good design. Apologies and stuff for my english.

I see great potential in the new celestial armor. It is lacking a spineguard or trinket for the back slot.

This assumes lots of people haven’t already been “warehousing” stacks and stacks of them like they did with CandyCorn and a few other Mats… And that half of those people won’t keep a lower “Market Watch” price to consistently sell them off at. (Oh online Apps… is there anything you CAN’T DO besides get lonely nerds a much needed girlfriend?)
