Per Dulffy’s guide here, we will now be able to craft Exotic Celestial armors and weapons. They require Charged Quartz Crystals, which require Quartz Crystals, and the entire system has a lot of time gates.
Regardless, it’s a new stats combination for armors and weapons. It won’t be as popular as Berzeker, of course, but…
I’m really happy that they added it in…and time gating it is no problem really
Just wondering… Do you need to have the recipe for Celestial Orichalcum Inscriptions/Gossamer Insignia, AND a recipe for the finished product too? I’m asking because I’ve seen recipes for each individual finished item on GW2Spidy, but past experience has been that once you have the inscription/insignia, you can discover the recipes yourself.
So basically, are Celestial weapons/armor discoverable too? Or do you have to purchase the recipe separately?
well with the ori insc needing 250 ectos i dont see anyone making them lol
… What? That HAS to be a bug or a mistake.
wait nvm i was in a rush and accedently saw how many i had only needs 5

The only classes this armor is particularly good for are classes that can easily fill multiple rolls (especially utilizing the cond. dmg, and healing pwr) with one build. The only ones that I can think of right now are Engis and Eles.
Other than that, Valkarie/Knights mix is more effective than Celestial for most other classes looking for rounded stats, and much easier to get

Anyone has any light to shed on this?
pretty sure you just need the recipe for inscription and insignia and then make the final product through the discovery panel like everything else.
But that would make the finished item recipes completely redundant. So why are they even in the game?
Hmm… Unless the finished item recipes use a completely different recipe, like 1 Pearl Weapon + 3 Charged Quartz crystals = 1 Celestial Pearl Weapon. Kind of like a way to recycle existing Pearl weapons into a new stat array.
I’ll have to test this when I get home tonight. Stuck at work right now and can only speculate. XD

I believe so. So far I managed to get few recipes for armor parts AND insignia so most probably you need both to craft armor piece.
Preview looks like oridinary Exo armor we can craft already so no special skins here. Also Charged Crystal did not show up in discovery window.
TBH the only thing I made and will made was Jewel that fit nicely into my Ancient Karka Shell (needed only 1 glob and 1 charged crystal + ori filgree). Too bad it is ACC BOUND. Anyway, as a Thief I’d rather not kitten myself with all stat stuff except this one jewel.

Bolded emphasis mine. Thanks. That bit of info alone tells me that the Celestial items are NOT discoverable, and that we’ll need to learn each of those recipes to craft the items as well.

i want to say i feel Guardians to a certain extent, maaaay be able to use Celestial stats to their advantage as well. but perhaps not as well suited as you mentioned, engis or eles.
Since it takes one day for a charged crystal gw2db.com ..
And you need 5 charged crystals per armor/weapn/jewelry piece..
That means you need 2 months and 5 days of contentious farming to get a full set of exotics?
This is what we should be expecting? I kinda vaguely remember someone from Anet saying this won’t be a grind except for cosmetics -legendaries/skins etc-
Also, are the crafted items account bound? Soul bound? Tradable?
Crafting a full exotic armor will take 30 days and the effective amount of time spent doing it will be about 10 minutes.
If you want weapons, four of them, you will need to wait an other 20 days and spend about 5 more minuties in the game making crystals and crafting the actual item.
Can people stop exaggerating there is no grind what so ever involved in making this armor.
The way they use cooldowns is infact removing all “need” of grinding and still make the items valuable. Something similar should have been in place for all exotics imo so crafting infact was something worth spending time doing.
Smart move anet
Armor will be tradeable but the charged quartz is accountbound and on a 24 cd.

Armor is account bound, like the weapons. You can see it on the item description of any character who has learned an item recipe. If by making “the items valuable” you think you will make gold with those Celestial items, well, you’re wrong.

With value i didnt mean gold, i ment crafting actually got worth something.
Even though the armor it self is accountbound. Infact crafting is even more worth something with the armor accountbound.

There is no grind but there is a 2months + time restriction to craft a full set of armor, weapons and trinkets? You also have to log on daily to charge a crystal or it will take even longer.
Sounds like a terrible system for mere exotic items..
The armor isn’t tradable. Check your facts.
Only a fan boy/redditer/hive mind member would compliment Anet on forcing these restriction on mere exotic pieces on their declining player base..

I’m not a fan of these rainbow stats but I have to say this time gating is getting out of hand lol. Good thing ascended trinkets already have these stats

Are you entirely sure? Wouldn’t it have to be the inscription or insignia not showing up?
I agree that if they are researchable, the “direct” recipes make no sense, but I’m still not convinced enough to go and buy all the recipes yet.
Edit: Nevermind. I just build an inscription to try this one out as well and the inscription isn’t showing up in the research panel either. So you actually need the final recipes as well.

There are 3 recipes, armor, trinket, and weapon. Once you get those, you can make all the time-gated items you want.
edit: nvm. hurray for crafting gates. Yes, you need the finished recipe as well. I think this destroys the idea of crafting but whatever, just wasted some stuff on this and I can’t even recoup my losses and I can’t craft a finished product either. Awesome.
