Charged Lodestone...
Best bet is to buy them. @ ~3g you’re looking at 300g for all 100. Just doing simple CoF p1+p2 runs per day(more with alts if you have them available) will net you ~3g per character in under 40 mins. That’s about 9g every 2hrs of play. Assuming you only play 2 hrs a day, making lets round up to 10g…that’s only a month of play. Not a big deal.
FYI: charged lodestones were MUCH MUCH MUCH higher a month or two ago(over 4g), so consider yourself lucky you didn’t craft Infinite Light or Mjolnir back then.
Charged lodestones have lots of recipes for weapons that is in high demand because of the good looking skins. the awesomeness of all the skins made with charged lodestones is many more than any other recipe using other types of lodestones. that is what increase the price and demand for the charged lodestones compared to all the other lodestones.
You can farm charged lodestones and you will get ca 1 pr hours in average with 100-160 magic find, but sometimes more and other times less. lodestone drop rate is horrible for all lodestones.
However, as stated above me here the charged lodestones used to be at an average price of 4g each and up to 4.3g each. this was until the path in the end of january. In the january patch they added orrian boxes and with that the price droped.
along in the update with new and improved chests all over you can now get charged cores and lodestones from the chain event on themple of zephyr (dwayna event chain ) in malchors leap.
at least right now you have more options to gather charged lodestones than before and its cheaper too now. still expensive for 100 but cheaper than before.
Yep. It cost now 3g, and I should feel happy now, but I do not know why it is not :P I think I will collect money and buy them, it save me halt a year. Thank you for advice.
Charged Lodestone is the most expensive due to certain reason that Shining good-looking weapon requires big amount of them.
Well, u went far too wrong way to get ur 2 Charged Lodestone since launch.
I got 81 Charged Lodestone from the past 6 months since launch. All of them r looted from COE chests from Cores or Lodestones. Of course most would be cores, I combined others mats with them in MF to get a Lodestone.
If u really want a Legendary weapon by not spending Cash-GEM-Gold way but do it urself in the game, u should try harder to grind currency like golds and buy them from TP.
PS u should really worry about the T6 Mats price instead of lodestones.

Yeah that’s bull, mate.
It is not because the demand is that much higher than other Lodestones, it is because there are so very few mobs in the game right now that can drop them. And just to spawn them you have to take a Temple in Orr.
If Anet came to their senses and added more lvl70+ Lightning Elementals in the world you would eventually see a normalization of the price.
Do you even lift, bro?

I wold argue that they drop every bit as frequently as Onyx lodestones or Molten Lodestones, and have the same number of drop locations; however the ease of running CoF has artificicially deflated the value of Molten lodestones, and the lower number of things to do with Onyx lodestones leads to a lower demand that accounts for the difference in value between the two. Far fewer people run TA or CoE than smash their face at CoF p1 over and over again.
Most of my charged lodes / cores come from Fractals or orrian jewelry boxes, I wish I could say that I ran CoE a lot but…. I don’t. I’m also working on The Dreamer which doesn’t require lodestones, and Volcanus which doesn’t require charged lodes…. so I have less motivation to go there.
If you can’t/don’t want to pay, you can’t have the item. Isn’t capitalism/consumerism lovely?
Shameless plug.
I’m 81 charged lodestones short of Sunrise. The lodies are all i need! Want to donate one to my cause? Hell donate a core and I’d write you a thank letter.
Mr Chuby
Telling people to buy them is ridiculous. Your asking me to make 700g in a reasonable time. As I need 350 for my weapon. This is not attainable even in a month.

+1
The problem is not the drop rate of Charged Lodestones, the issue is with CoF farming. I am also saying this as someone who is saving up for Volcanus. Anet needs to address the fact that a majority of its players only play 1 or 2 dungeons because they are faster and more lucrative. It just happens that Molten cores and lodestones drop from the dungeon that is farmed the most, driving the prices of these materials lower since the market is inundated with them.

No one is forcing you to get 350 lodestones; it’s your choice to go for a weapon that requires 350 charged lodestones.

Charged lodestones are brutal to acquire. We tread this ground literally once a month. They came down quite a bit when the Orrian Jewelry boxes came out, and that’s about all that has changed in the landscape.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

sooooo what your saying is if i want to enjoy the game as much as people with no lives i must do only what maximizes my profits for the 8 hours a day i play so that i can be done with the game because im so angry by the time i attain said weapon? Don’t be ridiculous. The drop rates are simply too low on this item and there is no way to argue that. People farm them for that 3g per hour blah blah but it would be much more balances as the price would of the item if it were in greater supply. Also the weapon takes roughly 80 skill points and 250 each of ecto and ori and its not a friggin legendary. The majority of the community agrees that time/reward ratios are not what is going to keep people in a game.

Amazing how they can’t simply edit 1 number to make a vast amount of the population happy.

you don’t need a weapon skill to enjoy the game, so i don’t get why you’re throwing that argument in. any thing can be hard to obtain, just because charged lodestones are at a high price doesn’t give you any right to kitten out the forums. Just farm for it and you’ll get it overtime if you really want a weapon skin that bad.

Sounds like you just need to deal with it. If you want something bad enough, you’ll go through a lot of abuse to get it. Or just bust out the CC, buy some gems and convert it to gold. No one is forcing you to farm, no one is forcing you to play the TP, no one is forcing you to do anything you don’t want to do. You’ve put it into you own head that in order to enjoy the game, you need this weapon that requires 350 charged lodestones. And yet, you don’t have the stamina to actually get that weapon. You need to figure out what exactly it is you want to do with the game.

CoF running being the most efficient way to get anything certainly doesn’t help, but as you pointed out the items you make from Charged (along with Destroyer, Corrupted and Onyx) Lodestones are just more pleasing. Look at Crystal Lodestones. The recipes are just bad all around.
It’s not just lodestones. Powerful Bloods, Ecto, Crystalline Dust and even Armored Scales are much more expensive than their counterparts but are widely available. It’s not just the drop rates, it’s the demand for the items they make and the usefulness of their recipes. Crystalline Dust are used in almost every good recipe. Zerker and Knight’s gear is all that needs to be said. Totems, Claws and Fangs are very niche and for a good laugh look at Ancient Bones and Powerful Sac prices compared to the rest. I’m sure it’s not a shocker that the uselessness of Condition Damage as a stat has something to do with that.
A good start to making prices drop for materials would be to make the prices of the alternatives go up by increasing the demand for them. Think of it this way, if every lodestone sold for comparable prices, then it wouldn’t matter which one you farmed. You could just farm the easiest one and then sell them to buy the one you want.

What I’m trying to state is nothing in the game should be THAT hard to attain. I am ok with saving as I play and buying them. But unless I literally grind grind grind every day for 6+ hours doing only things that earn max income for literally about a month or two would I attain these. My problem is not working for it. My problem is that it is one of few if not the only recipe for an EXOTIC not a legendary that requires 350 of something that a legendary only requires 100 of. That is the problem. If I only needed 100 of the lodestones and other mats then it would not be such a big deal.
The requirement of 350 charged lodestones for a non-legendary item is simply ludicrous. Either Anet needs to put the ingredients in line with other special exotics or make a new category: The Ultra- legendary weapon.
I’m pretty sure Anet didn’t realize how much harder Charged lodestones are to get than the other lodes when they created the recipe for Mjölnir.
I’m ok with them being more rare, it makes my Sunrise seem so much better when I know how much trouble I’ve had to got through for it. But 350 for Mjölnir, kitten that’s just brutal. If you sold the 350 charged lodes you could almost buy Twilight or Sunrise. That just blows my mind. xD
Yea clearly it’s the developers fault for not predicting how much Charged Lodestones would cost with respect to other lodestones at the time they were designing the recipe for Mjolnir…..
Volcanus’s Recipe calls for 450 total Lodestones, but no one complains about that recipe because 350 of them are the dirt cheap Molten Lodestone thanks to CoF runs.
After you’ve taken an economics course come back and explain again who is to blame for the Charged Lodestone prices.
Maybe in the future more recipes will come out to make other Lodestones on par with Charged in terms of demand, but honestly the supply is fine. Go to gw2spidy and look at the demand of Charged compared to the other Lodestones (except for Molten).
They do drop at lower rate than others.
CoE barely drops them.
Another that does but.. really doesn’t is fractals.
That’s it.
Glhf.
The price, perhaps???
The price, perhaps???
But that could be down to a million and one different things. I mean…
a) They’re the most valuable lodestone in terms of just how many coveted items they’re used for. Sunrise, Bolt, Infinite Light, Mjolnir… they’re ‘sparkly’ skins and so they attract a lot of attention.
b) When was the last time you ran Crucible of Eternity? (Be honest)
Few weeks ago? I just got the leg that requires 500 tokens from it too. I have ran it enough to have 6 full sets of it. I know the lode drop rate on that forsaken dungeon. It’s really kitten low.
The price, perhaps???
So the price of charged lodestone (3G+) vs. the price of the lowest lodestone (<1G) is because of a difference in drop rates? Do you have something more substantial to link price and drop rate? How does higher demand for charged lodestones fit into your theory?
FYI, Heavy Loot bags drop lodestones (rarely, i’ve opened over 1000 and got 3 charged and 3 charged cores, plus 3 other cores and 2 other lodestones). Regardless though, the drop rate is in the toilet for really 0 reason.
