Hey, I’ve got a bunch of alt characters I’d like to level, and I’m not terribly keen on repeating a bunch of starter zone content that I’m already well familiar with. What are the 2-3 cheapest crafting disciplines to max out? I’ve already got 400 in leather, jewelry, artificing, and tailoring. How do the rest of the professions compare to these?

There are about 3 levels: (1) Cooking is by far the cheapest, it costs a gold or less if you do your research. (2) Artificer and jeweler are next at around 2-3g. (3) All the other ones, which are rather more expensive.

I think my plan, then, will be to do cooking on all of the characters that need levels, followed by jewelry. After that, I will pick up a 3rd craft that I have not mastered yet.

there are 3 sides to doing this.
either you a) want to craft for yourself, or b) you’re crafting for profit, c) crafting for legendary.

in case of “a” then i suggest you go chef or jewelcrafting, they’re useful for all classes so you can make stuff for alts.

in case of “b” then i suggest you don’t get a craft at all, you will be making more money selling raw mats than selling the finished product.

in case of “c”, asking which crafts are cheap is irrelevant, since you don’t have a choice as to which craft you want to use for the legendary you want.

Cooking is extremely easy. Even if you don’t bother doing discoveries it’s probably the cheapest.

you need to know though, cooking might not be expensive on the gold, but it uses a lot of karma and you will need to move around the game world a lot.

other crafts you can basically sit at the crafting tables and do what you want right away.
