Recipe unlocking ITEMS are account-bound so you can pass them to another character on your account, but once you learn it, it is only learned on the character who has learned it. It’s always been this way for all disciplines.

Not entirely accurate Lindsey, a lot of recipe items were soulbound just after release, leaving me stuck with a couple of jeweller and artificer recipes on a character that did not have those professions.

Fair enough, but it was never the case that a recipe was account-wide, not character-based as suggested.

to chime in folks. Why would you expect recipe’s to be account wide? I find that to be a bit extreme. When one character learns a recipe it shouldn’t be expected that every character should know it too. I understand you are disappointed that your next character simply has to earn a minimal amount of karma to buy the recipe on that character. Disappointed perhaps but all kittened up about is a bit extreme

Most of the items you can craft are not soulbound. Furthermore, your inventory stash for craft materials is shared account-wide, so the idea that you would need a recipe ‘account-wide’ is a bit obsolete. If you have the recipe on a character, just log over and craft what you need and put it in your bank for the other character. In fact, you truly only need one character with max professions on all the professions and they can swap between them to craft whatever you need. (Assuming you have the funds to do so.)

how anybody could ever think that a crafting profession and it’s learned recipes are account bound is beyond me.

When will people learn to develop some common sense?

The fact that different characters can learn the same craft independently should logically lead one to conclude that the bought recipes would function the same way.

So a cooking karma recipe was bought by one character, person thought same recipe would be available on another character whom is also a cook… Perhaps I don’t understand this logic by why have two (or more) characters with same crafting professions?

And yeah that last line, OP, is a bit overboard lol.

Look, I don’t want to be insulting, but allowing a character to learn a recipe for an entire account would be a bit like Bubba Joe obtaining a doctorate in Physics, and consequently providing his entire family with all the rights and privileges that came with the degree.
Also, if you read the description of those things, it very clearly states that said recipe is soulbound.

Dear Hellz wind Staff Man,
The failsafe and stop, that was put in to help you was the item/recipe is listed as soulbound. If the item/recipe/thing is soulbound then it is bound to that character only. If it is accountbound then it is available for ALL your characters.
I have not heard of any sort of majority of people making this same mistake. If it is only among a small percentage of the player base I don’t think it is even worth their time to respond to something like this. Linsey already has however.
Anyhow just make sure and re-read recipes and items before thinking they are all accountbound.

Happy Thirsty Thursday,

How could A-net possibly be expected to prevent anyone/everyone from messing up by being careless?

If you are careless, you should lose out on stuff. Or maybe they could put a “Hand Holding Golem” in the gem store that just prompts you every time you do any action, “Have you thought about the consequences of that action?”, “Are you sure you want to sell that broken lockpick?”, Are you sure you want to attack that Rabbit?"

I need to be able to dodge and leave a clone behind at work/home.

I’m a bit confused as to why someone would want more than one of their characters to have the same craft? If you need something a tailor can make and you already have a character with it then make the items on that character and transfer them over to the other. There is no logical reason to have more than one character to be able to do the same thing.
