Q:

Can anyone confirm if this is just a “chance” at a rare dye or a guaranteed rare dye.

The description says “Double click to identify a Common, Uncommon, or Rare Dye from the <color> spectrum”.

The blue and gray levels are 400 level and the mat costs to produce one are really high for just a “chance” to produce a rare…

It is just a chance at a Rare dye. It is entirely possible to get an Uncommon or Common dye from it.

Yes, it is TOTALLY not worth it, given how expensive some of the ingredients are. :P

Its not even a particularly good chance in my experience. less than 20% of getting a rare. Possibly much less.

Its RNG with a “chance”
Crafted 3 types of rare with a 66% hit
Game likes players to gamble for rare items so i guess like in RL
gamble with a fixed limit in mind before you gamble everything away

If the chance of getting a common/uncommon/rare is the same as a regular Unidentified Dye then it would be worth it for certain colors. Too bad the wiki doesn’t keep track of “drop rates” for these.

That’s only because no one has bothered to start tracking them – we don’t automatically create drop rate pages for every known container item. And that’s probably because most people realize that these are a poor investment and very few people actually craft them.

How can anyone be sure without actual data?! :P
If the crafted unid dyes and regular unid dyes have the same split between rarities then I think for some colors these would be worth it. I certainly don’t plan on investing in huge amount to find out but maybe with the wallet change I’ll accidentally order a few stack of these …
