Copper Ore in lower areas than gear?

Hey everyone,

I am playing an alternate character now and am leveling armorsmith/weaponsmithing on her. She is now level 17 and in Kessex Hills. I notice that the majority of ore’s there are Iron and Silver. However, I am still on copper ore for crafting. Beyond that, the gear I am making is too high level for me (20-22).

I want to know why Copper ore would be necessary to make level 20 gear, but the level 20 area drops iron? :|

because you farm copper in 1-20 areas and use that gear for the 20-30 areas

You gather copper in the 1-15 areas really (Copper is in Kessex Hills, but rare), and can’t wear the armor until 5-10 levels later. Seems silly to me, but OK.

Wish they had more copper / less Iron in KH as their seems to be a flood of iron in the market and a lack of copper.

Be glad you can go back to the previous zone and farm up the ore. If you had to gather leather and cloth, you’d be totally screwed since they drop based off of loot tables and once you out level the zone, the leather/cloth changes to the next tier forcing you to be dependent on the bags droppings with salvage or leather in them.

Part of the reason there’s so much Iron is because Iron is the mats you need to start making the rare armor sets.

Iron is also needed for two weapon/heavy armor tiers – that’s why you find it in a wider level range

I can’t wait until ANet releases the game promoted in the manifesto.
Until that, I’ll play GW2.

There is a flood of Iron, because after copper you need it for Iron but you need them as well to make steel after that. It makes sense why there is so much iron when it spans so many crafting levels.

The Goonie who wasn’t in the movie.

Yeah I am not really complaining about the flood of iron so much as the lack of copper at the level the gear is created for.

Luckily I want 100% map completion on my main, so I’ve headed back to starter areas with my 80 and am gathering copper while I’m at it.

As for the leather/tailor issue. My main is an 80 thief with leather and 2nd is a 45 ele with tailoring. I know exactly what you mean

I was gonna say, just hit a few other starter areas and gather as you go. It’s better than purely farming since you wanna do zone completions anyways. More xp, karma, and loot to fuel your early endeavors on top of all the mats you gather.
