Guild Wars 2

My friend will soon be hitting level 80 on his first character. I want to make him a Corrupted Avenger assuming I have enough lodestones to make it cheaper than buying one. If I craft it, will the mods on the Etched Avenger affect the stats of the Corrupted Avenger? Does the level of the Etched determine the level of the Corrupted?

No, the stats and the sigil wont affect the outcome

I recently crafted the corrupted dagger.
The Etched ‘precursor’ is completely transformed and it’s stats/sigil does not effect the output. All the Etched ’precursor’s ’ are lvl 80 weapons.

just make sure to get the etched “weapon” of rage since it normally doesnt recognize the other etched weapons. And make sure it is lvl 80 otherwise it is the wrong aswell.
