Just got the etched spear and was all excited to begin working on the Corrupt version of it as it yields a high amount of gold. Noticed the required spear for making it says "of rage’ and mine is “of accuracy” does this make my hopes of making the Corrupt spear invalid due to it not saying “of rage” id put in a rune stone but it would make the spear soulbound. not sure if that would affect the recipe for the finished product or not.

Anyone shed some light on this situation?

Unfortunately I have no idea either, but the easiest way to check would be to buy the recipe (you need it anyway), then go to a Huntsman station and see whether or not the Etched Spear shows up as a valid ingredient when trying to craft the Corrupted Spear.

i can confirm that you need a “of rage” weapon to craft the corrupted weapons. early on when i wanted to craft the hammer, i bought a shaman’s etched on the TP without realizing this and got one “of _” and couldn’t craft it.

though if that will affect the ability to craft or the outcome of the end result.

@akamon: OK, so to crafted a Corrupted Greatbow, you would need an Etched Bow of Rage? Did you test whether or not putting a Sigil of Rage into the Etched Bow (therefore soulbinding it) would still allow the Corrupted Greatbow to be crafted?

That won’t work. The Corrupted recipes want the lv80 versions of those Etched weapons. There is only one lv80 Exotic Etched Greatbow which is the version with the Rage sigil. Actually all the lv80 Etched weapons have a rage sigil.

Ahh, didn’t know that. Do they only drop from the Mystic Forge then? (That’s the only location I can think of that would spit out the exact same version of a level 80 weapon with a specific Sigil each time.)

No idea about that. I would expect them to drop from icebrood stuff in Frostgorge and the Claw of Jormag chest(the big one).

That is not quite what was said. There is a difference between crafting to sell and crafting to use. You can end up losing if you craft to sell while still saving money is you craft to use because of the taxes and fees.

The savings may not be huge but if you can save 10 or 20 silvers crafting something yourself then why not?

in most cases of corrupted weapons you can save many golds by crafting it yourself. and even more gold by buying corrupted lodestones on custom buy order. might take a little while, but you can save a lot of money.

and yes, only “of rage” works, so be careful on which weapon you buy.
