Q:
Crafting Booster
The booster only boosts your crafting experience, not the actual experience you get from crafting. You got 14 levels because you get relatively more experience from crafting at the lower levels.
above is false. just got lucky with critical chance
The booster raises your chance to get CRIT XP. I went from 1-80 by crafting and ended up only having to get around 100 points in the 8th craft. I used boosters the entire time I crafted.

I’m quite right… luck doesn’t have anything to do with it.
Character experience and crafting experience are not the same thing: Crafting
Each crafting level gives a set percent of experience for your level.
For some reason though it seems that this percent is higher on lower levels.

you gain 10 lvls per 0-400 craft. at early lvls you gain more since it takes less xp compared to higher lvls to lvl up. boosters just increases the crafting xp. meaning you need less supplies to get from 0-400 but it won’t increase the amount of lvls you get.
The crafting booster is pretty worthless.
It doesn’t really save you time or money at all.

Have you taken a character to 80 by crafting? I have and yes it saves both time and money. So no, its not worthless.
I use crafting boosters almost every time i level up a profession 0 – 400. It simply increases the crafting experience you gain (more critical success → more crafting experience) therefore it saves time, materials and money (more craft exp → less crafts needed to levelup → less mats → less money)
So it’s not useful, it’s a must have if you want to level up a alt just by professions
Can you explain how the booster saves you money? I’m using the guides on gw2wiz and pre-buying all the materials. If I didn’t pre-buy, I’d have to spent a lot of time running back and forth between TP and station + waiting on orders to be filled (I never use buy immediately).
The boosters makes you level the craft faster, meaning you make fewer items leveling up and thus don’t spend as much on mats. Saving you both time and money.
As for how the OP got a few extra levels out of the first craft: XP is calculated differently from 1-15. Things that give % work as if the 1-15 range is the same as 10 levels after (meaning a 10% xp gain will be slightly more than 10% of a level between 1 and 15).

when i went to powel level through Jewelcrafting, i got to 400 pretty fast and actually saved some materials (was using a guide, which was written without the use of a booster involved). your crit chance is raised to gain more Crafting XP as i understand it, and have nothing to do with your character’s actualy levels.
