Crafting Rare Dyes: Urgent Fix Required
If you mouse over the description, it says it has a chance to drop a Fine, Masterwork or Rare dye from the appropriate spectrum. I agree it’s misleading, but it’s working as intended.
If that’s the case, they might as well just give chefs one option, “Craft Unidentified Dye”, otherwise, what’s the point of crafting something called “Unidentified Rare Blue Dye” if you don’t get a friggin rare blue dye.
RNG chance….
Yep,but it so broken in this game.

No it isn’t you are just used to play casual games. Gw2 RNG is casual compared to other games.
This is an mmo forum, if someone isn’t whining chances are the game is dead.

Most likely you fat fingered something. I’ve done it.
I clicked “create masterwork dye” instead of “create rare dye”.
The name is misleading, but the description is accurate. Report the misleading name as a bug if it bothers you that much.
Fate is just the weight of circumstances

It still limits it to a dye in the blue spectrum, of which there are 68. I think 5 or 6 of those are exclusive colors, so lets say 62.
I’m not sure how many rares the blue spectrum has, but you still have a higher chance of getting the blue rare from your Unidentified Rare Blue Dye than you do from just the typical Unidentified Dye, where you’re then pulling from a pool of 382 colors…
I know ANet has an RNG reputation to maintain but how about if they increase the mats required and if you craft a rare dye you get a rare dye and if you craft a masterwork dye you get a masterwork dye.
RNG, like the lottery, is a tax on people who are bad at math.
Sell your ingredients and post some buy orders on the TP.

Blue rare perhaps. Rare in general? Not sure about that.

Rare in general? Yeah not sure, would have to tally them all up and do the math, which I’m just too lazy to do. However, if you’re specifically after a ‘blue’ rare, then you should have a better chance if you limit the pool you’re pulling from to just that spectrum. Which, I’m guessing was part of the point of crafting the “unidentified rare blue dye” as opposed to one of the others. Maaaybe not though, it’s just a guess.
