Q:
Crafting XP vs. Quest XP (No Equality)
Hmm. So the only reason for people to craft is to level up to level 80?

Well then why gain any amount of XP from it at all? If not to gain levels? No, it may not be the primary goal of crafting, but at least there’s an option for those who CAN afford doing it. At least there’d be an option for people who are just tired of the obligatory grind required to hit max level by questing. Plus I’d think it’d also be more of an incentive to pick up a craft.

Scroll of Experience + 8 professions to 400 and then you only need 4 levels.
It was possible to reach lvl 80 by maxing all professions to 400 because you got 10 levels per craft. With 6 professions being raised to 500, maxing one of those will give 10 levels.
Once chef and jeweler will be raised to 500, you will be able to craft level to lvl 80 again.

Why on earth would they take this route to leveling away? It makes no sense whatsoever. They took an option away from a gaming aspect where options are always better; Leveling.

They didnt take it away, you still get exp for crafting.

I know very well that they didn’t simply remove the XP from crafting.
Like I stated in my first post, they dramatically nerfed the amount of XP one receives from crafting.
What I’m saying is they need to either boost the gained XP from crafting to contend with the XP earned through questing.
Either do that, or remove it altogether. Because as it is, it makes no sense to earn such small amounts.
At least make the gained XP in crafting increase gradually as you progress.
I’d prefer XP for crafting anything instead of gaining a crafting level. Makes sense to me at least.

You don’t want to take the progression away from an aspect of the game. That’s basically the premise of any game. Whether it be an MMO or an FPS.
What I’m talking about is making more viable options of progression.
The more (viable) options there are, the better. Especially in the case of leveling where the formula for which has been used more than the AK-47. Maybe an over-dramatization, but whoever understands it gets my point.

So just because you can only reach lvl 74 instead of lvl 80 by maxing all crafts, they should remove it alltogether?

I’ve seen lots of arguments for bringing back the old XP crafting leveling potential, but EQUALITY is one of the more “inventive” ones I’ve seen. Total rubish, but quite creative. I really like the psudo-threat of being willing to “sacrifice” ANY XP gain via crafting for the sake of “integrity”…..nice!
REBUTAL TO ‘CLAIM’: Looking at the Skill points on my characters, I’ve leveled up hundreds (possibly THOUSANDS) of times after reaching LVL 80 and since you could NEVER earn more than 80 LVLs via crafting, these 2 methods were never remotely equal in potential…..NEXT CASE!

you can still craft level to 80. the grandmaster professions only give 7 levels if you only get them to 400 and not 500.
get 6 professions to 500 and 2 professions to 400. should give 10 levels each profession = level 80.
it just costs 1000g instead of 80g.
but at least gem->gold is higher than it used to be. early on in the game, 100 gems -> 40s, so it took around 20,000 gems to max level. now, 100 gems -> 10g, so it would take 10,000 gems to max level.
and some people still complain about the gem price going up :P

Actually, since Cooking and Jeweler do not allow 500 (and ALL the crafts XP was re-scaled….even those 2), you CAN’T get to 80 with just crafting. 74 is current max obtainable via crafting.

Is not like it’s difficult to get a few levels when you first start the character. I’m usually pretty close to level 5 by the end of key farm runs.
I wish they hadn’t given any XP for crafting, as that has caused most crafted items to lack economical value.
It’s kind of like the government paying you to print out copies of a book no one wants.

If it wouldnt give xp and people wouldnt craft lvl their alts, most lower and mid tier mats would be useless.

Not if they relied upon the ascended crafting mold and required them for high end crafting.
It has always bothered me that games with crafting have tiers that become useless once you level past them. Last I checked we left the Bronze Age several millennia ago but we still use bronze and copper pretty regularly…

All the arguments for “it’s not really that bad….”, are ignored by those that just want to complain and act like a Martyr when something they “exploited” gets altered in any way.

You’re talking about your ‘suffering and agony’ of leveling your SECOND 80!?! This must be some pro troll post that I don’t completely understand. Unless you’re an entitled, millennial, only child…then I understand your frustration.
From what I understood is that leveling from crafting was nerfed from 10 levels per profession to 7 levels per profession, because too many people were calling it “pay to win”, “Unfair”, etc. And now you want it buffed back to where it was? Or remove it all together? Crafting to level, even as is, is a good thing. especially for people with alts. Its a fantastic gold sink, it allows people to “PHIW” and not be forced into doing something.
