I’m getting my weaponsmithing crafting up to 500. Right now, it’s at 320 or so. I need to know where I can get Vision Crystals and the Zojja’s… thingie that you need (besides the dagger blade and hilt) to craft it.

Edit: Are the razors character bound BTW?

Talk to a master craftsman NPC to buy Recipe: Ascended Inscription. You can then double-click that to get Recipe: Zojja’s Berserker Inscription, which allows you to craft Zojja’s Berserker Inscription, which you’ll use to make an ascended weapon. Alternatively, you could buy them from another player for ~42 gold. Making ascended inscriptions isn’t cheap, and requires a lot of material.

Vision Crystals are made using the Mystic Forge crafted , using Dragonite Ingots, Bloodstone Bricks, Empyreal Stars, and an Augur’s Stone.

I’m pretty sure most or all Ascended gear is account-bound, rather than soulbound, due to the amount of work that goes into it. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, though.

Edit: Whoops. Vision Crystals are crafted, not Mystic Forged.

Wow. That looks difficult to forge. I want two for my thief… how long does it usually take to all the materials and forge a single dagger?

Vision Crystals are crafted – the recipe is automatically discovered and can be found under Crafting Components.
You need deldrimor steel ingots and spiritwood planks to make the ascended weapons, and you can craft one of each per day. You can of course also buy these on the TP.
In addition to buying the inscription recipe you also need to buy the dagger recipe (same merchant).

Wait… you mean you only craft an ascended weapon once per day? Or those materials? I’m confused.

You can only craft one Lump of Mithrillium, Spool of Silk Weaving Thread, Glob of Elder Spirit Residue and Spool of Thick Elonian Thread per day, per account.

But, you can craft as many Deldrimor Ingots , Bolts of Damask, Globs of Elder Spirit Residue and Elonian Leather Squares, per day as long as you have all the requisite materials, including the ones above.

I’m one of those stupid people who decided to make double weapons rather than a two-handed Ascended weapon. FYI – each one-handed weapon requires virtually the same material as a two-handed weapon (I think the difference is something like a couple of ores?). So for the same materials and effort as a two-hander, you’ll make a one-handed weapon that only partly equips your character.

How long it takes to acquire the materials varies on your gameplay. I’m a moderately dedicated but hardly hardcore player, after two years I’m finally in a position to make the two daggers.

Because of my gameplay style, Empyreal Fragments were the worst to collect. Others have had issues collecting Dragonstone. ArenaNet has decided that certain gameplay styles will result in a complete lack of particular items dropping for you so you may have to force yourself to do things you may not want to do in order to get these materials. WvW may be better rounded out of all the options, I’m not sure.

Read the wiki and websites. This one of those game systems where ArenaNet fell back hard upon their old habits of requiring tedious, out-of-game research if you want to know what you’re doing. Fortunately, the info is out there, but you get to spend time reading it rather than playing the game.
