Fact.

Just learned how to do it, got to 500 Artificer yesterday and am working on making my first ascended weapon… The list of things… It just never ends. To make one thing, you need to make another thing, and to make that thing, you need to make three other things, and to make those three other things, you need to make two other things and to make those two things you have to be patient because you’re time-gated and can only make one of those two things per day and I want to shoot myself.

When I finish this weapon. Never again. Never, ever, ever.

Crafting exotics is not ridiculous and ascended items are only slightly better in terms of stats. Ascended crafting is meant to be a long term goal for most players, though not as long term as a legendary. The game is getting towards 2 years old and in order to keep players going you have to expect the odd item that is going to take you a month to craft.

The time gate is a bit meh..
But I see no problem with the other stuff, ascended is the best you can have, though it is just marginally better than exotic.
By the way, there are some cooking recipies that are just the same, you need to make 1, then 2, then 3, then combine 1 and 2, then combine those with 3, then make 4, combine them and then add spices to get the thing you want, so it isn’t unique for ascended.

If OPs only reason to craft is to reach 500 and make an Ascended Weapon….and they did it in one day….then decided to /RageqQuit crafting….

OP, I’ve played 1300 hours and haven’t bothered with crafting ascended armor. Ascended is for people who have many many many hundreds of golds and play so much they just have to have it. it has a 5% increase in stats, so while its not nothing, this is simply not for the average player. At least I dont think so.

They specifically made this to people who invest many hours a day into it. giving them a carrot. For the rest of us, we can just ignore it!

Ascended crafting is not complicated in the slightest, you’re just a classic case of wanting everything straight away. It’s not hard to go on the wiki, find the ascended crafting table, read it from right to left and think “Ok, I need these core mats (most of which are things like dust which you have thousands of anyway), once I’ve got these core mats I can make blah blah, once they’ve been combined I’ve finished that element and onto the next one”, etc etc.

I’ve only crafted an Ascended Scepter up to now but already after that it makes so much more sense. All you have to do is buy a different recipe and it’s pretty much the same process for every other piece of equipment.

Yes it’s a lot of money but just make sure you’re crafting Bolts of Damask and Deldrimor ingots, etc every day and you’ll soon get there. It’s not meant to be a 1 day thing.

Have you looked at the flow chart of crafting Ascended? It IS MUCH more complex than any previous crafting recipe. You can argue it’s not TOO complex, but saying it’s not complicated in the slightest is just untrue.

On the other hand, your analysis of the true intent of this post is spot on.

Have to agree with the op, to craft A you need B and C, to C you need D and E, to E you need F and G, add eternum, not just on every level.

The interface needs to be cleaned up. If you have all the mats for A and its components then you should simply have the option to build A and presto it makes everything in betwin automatically.

WoW had multiple components as well, but it was usually 1 or 2 things which DID NOT require multiple components as well. Here To make the most basic rifle, you need the barrel that needs bronze that needs tin and copper AND you need the stock that needs planks that needs trunks, have to go through 5 recipes to make the most basic gun. Thats too much and exacerbates exponentially as you lvl up.

If yo need to follow a flow chart to craft something then you kittened up your system.

Honestly Ascended weapons (can’t comment on armour) are a lot easier than I personally expected. If not for the time gating I would have my hammer by now. I have so much mithril it’s falling out my pockets. So mithrillum, not a problem. I have so much elder wood I can’t keep up. The only mat I’ve found myself buying is platinum. Everything else comes naturally from my play style. Ofc you have to pay for the Reagents, that’s the only real gold sink here.

Are you using the nice pretty picture that shows you all the different pieces and how you make those, and then how you make those etc? Because it makes A LOT more sense if you use it. A visual representation is a lot easier on the brain. I will attach the one for a weapon.
