Crafting twilight - Daily musts
Do your daily achievement and that’s pretty much it. The laurels will help you to get T6 mats easier.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
Start farming… Running the GW2Stuff overlay and hit every event you possibly can, should produce a ton of drops that can get you resources and/or gold for resources. Champion trains can also help.
It’s a long, long road
Start doing AC runs. You will need to anyway for the Gift of Ascalon.
As a suggestion, focus on one Gift at a time. Once it’s complete, then move on to the next.
Start learning and playing WvW. You will need map completion there as well plus 500 Badges of Honor. If you get in a big WvW guild you can get lots of loot and maybe even a pre-cursor from all those bags.
Personally I would save the Laurels for Ascended recipes and whatever else they put at the laurel merchant that you can’t get any other way like an Ascended Amulet with a magic find infusion. You can also generate a lot of T6 materials trying to forge your Mystic Clover. Therefore get your Gift of Fortune sooner than later.
Finally start keeping an eye out for ways to earn gold. Until they get around to providing a pre-cursor crafting method, you will need a ton of gold to buy one or dump hundreds of gold into the mystic toilet hoping to get one.
karma will pwn you..
again… with the karma nerf you will cry as its very difficult to farm karma now with the nerf’s anet have done.
considering you require approx 400-450 oby shards at 2100 karma EACH, u require almost a million karma..
so again… KARMA will hurt you badly…
Farm the karma more then anything… and typically all the others will follow.
And if u dont have your precursor…. oh man….
Dont get me started on precursors… i have 3 legendaries, and not one was gifted from the mystic tolie.. err forge…

Wow that’s a horrible suggestion.
It might be a long way to the legendary but why should it be filled with boring and repetetive grinds?
I wouldn’t do any of the stuff you suggested, as soon as the legendary is done you are just burnt out.
Currently playing Heart of Thorns.
There is a lot of stuff that’s true for all legendaries. Start with an eye on gift of mastery. This means world exploration, which, scary as it may seem now, is the easy part. I would also concur that running dungeons sooner rather than later is a good idea. Ascalonian Catacombs will need to be done at least 8 times, but by that stage you should be pretty good at it, and at 1.5 gold per run up to 3 times a day this would be a worthwhile part of a daily routine. Also consider Twilight Arbour, as once you get used to the runs it is quite easy, and it will also occasionally get you Onyx cores and lodestones.
The two really tricky bits will be saving up for the precursor and the gift of fortune. For the latter you will want to craft the Mystic Clovers first, but that can wait if you are running low on skill points.
Above all, concentrate on the bits you enjoy and you should make progress. Personally I find the Frostgorge champ train bores me to tears but I love running the same dungeons. Other people feel the opposite way. And good luck.
if you want it fast…buy gems and transfer to gold. youre not in such hurry? flip tp. not good? speed clear dungeons. getting gold and buying materials is just faster than trying to gather materials. world bosses are…erm…not really best idea, all good you get from them is dragonite ore for ascended gear.
as for karma, killing tequatl is a good source of it. beside it, you can get some from fractals.
the champ train is sth that should vanish from this game…it leads to situations you end up in dungeon with players that got shiny things and some achievement points (can expect them to be good right?) that got no clue what are they doing. like staff guardians, 5 signet warriors or pistol (and nothing else) engis with their mighty 111111
keep in mind, without farming, flipping, gems or extreme luck (like expensive precursor drop) twilight will take you year or more
Going for Twilight is a huge undertaking, but here’s some tips:
1. You will need 1-2 million Karma for all the Obsidian Shards you’ll need. It’s impossible to tell how many you’ll need because the recipe for Mystic Clovers fails 67% of the time.
2. You need 77 Mystic Clovers. When the recipe fails you receive Tier 6 material instead of a Clover, so it’s always a good idea to make your Clovers before you collect all the Tier 6 mats, because you’ll get a ton of them for “free” this way and you’ll know where you stand.
3. Create a spreadsheet showing yourself everything you need and what you’ve already got. It’s good to know where you stand and it helps you stay on track.
4. Get 100% World Completion. You need this to get Gift of Exploration. Remember that it includes WvW too, so get out there now and start getting what you can (each week there’s a chance your color changes out there, so you’ll get it all eventually).
5. Focus on 1 Gift at a time.
6. Decide for yourself right away if you want to save money for the precursor, or try your luck in the Mystic Forge.
It’s a huge grind and a long process but it’s nice to have a long term goal.
Good luck!
Get your daily laurel done every day.
Don’t buy the Icy Runestones until the very end.
Get your clovers done first before T6 Mats.
Get your world completion done as part of doing your dailies. Krytan Killer, Maguuma Veteran, Shiverpeaks Events, that sort of thing.
Check which crafting professions you need for your weapon (Weaponsmithing 400? I don’t remember) and accumulate materials for crafting (iron, cotton, whatever) in zones that you are doing for map completion. Don’t just craft to 400 in one burst.
Join WvW and run with a zerg. This will get you karma, badges, and fun.
The goal is to do stuff that fits more than one purpose at the same time so that you don’t have to do a grind at the very end, and you have fun along the way.
- Farm as much gold per day as you can stomach.
- Buy off the TP.
Or:
- play the TP as much per day as you can stomach.
- Buy off the TP.
The second method is a lot faster if you know what you’re doing.
If you don’t want to buy it outright, at the very least
- Do either number 1s from above.
- Buy the precursor off the TP.
Unless you enjoy gambling, do not play the mystic forge for the precursor. Yes, you may get it on the first try, but the usual result is weeping plus angry forum posts.
When I set out on my first legendary, I came across this: http://www.guildwars2hub.com/guides/basics/10-tips-obtaining-legendary-weapon
Pretty good basic guidelines. The only change is that people are now salvaging their blues and greens for luck instead of selling them but that’s a personal choice. Remember to check the price of the rune itself on any exotic drop before selling it. Keep yourself doing a variety of things so you don’t burn out.
Frostgorge champ farm.
Play for fun, that way you’ll actually want to consider finishing your Twilight rather than get bored 1k gold in as you attempted to force yourself through the grind.
I purely play for fun, with a few exceptions when friends/guild need help, and I have … well that would be showing off … I’ll just say more than the average joe.
