yakO so Ive gotten to level 23 in my first toon and am enjoying it so far. I had thought I would level my crafting from all the resources I harvested on the way. However, despite harvesting everything I see I have only reached 14/500 on both weaponsmithing and armoursmithing.

Is it possible to level crafting as I go or am I better off selling my harvested mats as I go and just powerlevelling once I have gold to pay for it?

Im a bit stuck and wouldn’t mind some helo.

It is possible, but not very practical for a single (first) character to craft usable equipment while leveling. As you have found, the problem is obtaining suitable level materials to craft items for your current character level. You CAN buy them off the TP, but unless you have access to some coin (not normally possible with a first character), that’s hard to pull off.

I was able to craft a good bit of relative level equipment, but I leveled about 4 characters at the same time (took a while for any of them to hit 80), harvesting every node I saw and conserving gold as I went. I would have never gotten them all in Rares, except for the Scarlet Invasion LS come up right when most of them were reaching 80….I geared them all up in rares over that month (and kept a good number of Rares for new characters I started as well).

You should use all the material you harvest and not selling them. This probably won’t gonna get that far in your crafting by the time you get to level 80, but that normal. If you sell your stuff now, you will buy them latter to complete your crafting and you will lose gold by doing so. Also crafting is a good way to level up your character.

That’s one school of thought (tho your statement about loosing money by selling materials now and buying back later is not necessarily true).

The other is to sell ALL materials, ignore crafting and gear up while leveling with a mixture of karma purchased jewelry, drops and maybe a few good TP purchases (tho that is significantly more expensive since the Magic Find update). MANY players swear this is how to reach 80 with a nice Gold stash ready to “gear up”. If you level mostly running Champ Train in Queensdale, you can have some significant coin AND decent Magic Find if you salvage and sell materials (even more if you run everything past the TP before salvaging and selling intelligently).

I personally like the crafting, so I have not gone this route (but it IS a viable option to crafting your own gear).

Keep in mind that 400 crafting in a single craft IS a requirement for obtaining a Legendary Weapon (but crafting to 400 is not that big a deal if you have some coin).
