Destroyer Core/Loadstone farming unbalanced
Actually, Destroyer Cores/Lodestones are one of the easiest to farm. In Fractals of the Mists, the Dredge fractal drops an incredible number of consumables called “Heavy Miner Bags”. In any given run I get 2-3 Cores / 1-2 Lodestones from these bags (I usually pick up 20-25 of these bags per run). Granted, when doing FotM, you won’t always get the Dredge fractal, when you do, it’s a goldmine! I definitely recommend it for anyone going for these Lodestones.
These bags are one of the primary things keeping these Lodestones from getting super expensive despite how many things they are used for. I imagine the more people doing FotM, the cheaper they’ll get, too. It’s rather exciting for me.
Slightly off-topic, I think Crystal Lodestones are in the same boat no?
On topic, I have obtained a destroyer lodestone from a mining bag (the kind you click on in your inventory to get items from them) that dropped from a dredge in the fractals dungeon. I am unsure of the probability of obtaining one through this means, but it might help you if your attempting to farm them.
Just to be clear, this topic is mainly related to farming outside dungeons and mobs that drop them directly not random chance in a bag. I am aware of “Heavy miner bags” dropping them but in real world practice they are just as rare in the bag as they are dropping off low level mobs in mount malestrom.
Since I have farmed other core/lodestones, the difference is great to me. I was able to farm earth eles in Cursed shore for Onyx and Corrupted in Frostsound all of which have level 75+ mobs that drop them.
It seems to me as one of the temples upon unlocking should have mobs that we can farm for these like other lodestones/cores.
Well, to be fair, when the Primordus expansion comes out, I have no doubt we’ll be killing hundreds upon hundreds of Destroyers at max level and beyond. I wouldn’t worry about the future in that regard too much.
I believe us folks trying to farm silver doubloons would like to have a word with you about how hard it is to get destroyer cores :p
At least you DO have the dungeon to fall back on. I’ve found more destroyer cores in SE than anywhere else. You might not have a choice but to do the dungeons to get them, until they change where they can drop.
What?? Destroyer drops from level 80 dredge, you get loads of them doing fractals and WvW. Meanwhile to get Charged there’s only a couple of mobs in Orr that drop them, and they only spawn when your server controls a random temple on the other side of the map (never).

Actually Destroyer Cores/Lodestones do not drop from Dredge but rather in the Heavy Miner Bags they drop. In real world practice from spending many many hours farming these, the bags have a lower drop rate than the level 66 mobs in Mount Malestrom. I would prefer being able to farm them directly off mobs like Charged and Onyx after clearing a temple rather than how it is now.
To make matters worse Mount Malestrom doesn’t even have the correct mobs up half the time but rather oozes and fire eles so what I am left with is dungeons and extremely rare bag drops.
The Dredge bags really aren’t rare drops. They have incredibly good odds of dropping from the Dredge Fractal, on the order of 1 in 3. Furthermore, with 20 bags every time I do the path, I always get at least 2 cores. This isn’t even considering that I get lucky sometimes and score a lodestone/core from the chests in FotM. I totally recommend this for your core-farming needs; if you get a different kind of core/lodestone, just TP it and buy the one you want!
Actually ALL lodestone farming is crap, its RNG its not a flat . if it was say 10 drop you would see 1 every 10 mobs give or take a few, <—- just an example we know its not a 10%. It is not a standard 0.01% or anything like that, people have farmed elementals for 2-4 hours and got 1-2 and others have farmed for 10-14 hours and gotten ZERO.
This whole system of lodestones will KILL this game because it makes people feel they are wasting their time. They play when they are off work or off school and would like to see some progress, some chipping away at that long legendary grind or some crazy exotic that needs 350 lodestones.
This needs a fix and FAST. Holiday patchs wont keep people happy forever
Luckily I only need 20 but even at that it is rather painful. Just give me a place where I can farm solo on level 75-80 mobs and it would be a step in the right direction. Due to drop % being penalized due to the mobs in Mount Malestrom being level 66 it adds even more difficulty in farming these.
Onyx can be farmed on Earth Ele’s in all three Orr zones, Correupted while less still has Ice Elementals which are farmable and Charged in both Malchors and Cursed Shore Orr but nothing for Destroyer.

Yes it is so unfair for poor people like you, people how are trying to get the second cheapest lodestones. Anet definetly needs to add more ways to farme those so that they can get even cheaper …
Please before you start whining that Anet should make things easier for you think about what consequences that would have. All Lodestones you mentioned here are more expensive than Destoryer Lodestones even so you can farm them. That means supply/demand on those items is way lower than it is for Destroyer Lodestones. So what you are asking is basicly to increase the supply even more …
You should also consider what is efficient. Let us imagine you could farm them as “easily” as Charged Lodestones, then why would you want to farm them when you could go farm Charged Lodestones, sell those and buy almost 3 Destoryer Lodestones with the profit? That would mean that if you where to farm them directly it would take you 3 times as long, so why exactly would you want to do that?

IMHO if you are farming Lodestones to sell for a profit, you are wasting an incredible amount of time and there are far more efficient ways to make gold than uber low drop rate lodestones.
All my point was that there needs to be a place outside dungeons that these drop off end game mobs like most other Lodestones. I am sorry if that cuts into your precious profit but that is what happens when you paint yourself into a corner on generating gold. A smart farmer will have many ways to make gold so that your world doesn’t fall apart when the slightest change is made.
So again, why does an END GAME ingredient only drop off level 66 mobs?
I’ve played since launch and haven’t recieved a single lodestone from any dungeon, I rarely see any core dropping or from bags/chests for me, perhaps 1-2 cores in 10 runs but depends on the dungeon. I’ve killed tons of elementals of all kinds and not gotten any rare crafting materials at all.
I did however get some corrupted lodestones from the jormag event about 2 months ago from farming the icebrood elementals that spawned. Whenever I do that event now I get nothing of ‘yellow’ rarity at all.
Personally, I don’t need them but it’s nice to get something somewhat valuable instead of trash all the time. Anyone else feeling the lack of RNG favor?

All I got from dredge fractal was 1 glacial lodestone. I got a few of those bags, but no destroyer stuff.
I’m wishing that at some point a new map is released that has lots of rank 80 mobs that drop these (@ a slightly higher rate than the 0.00001 chance, or whatever it is now. maybe increased chance to 0.1? Shirley, would be appreciated from a player with 750 hours played). Destroyer inhabited land, Earth elementals, Ice elementals, Crystal elementals…. looking at the expanded world map… where might they put them? hmmmm. When those maps are released, I will spend some time there getting the materials. Until then, I’ll occasionally craft more rare 80 weapons and try for precursors.
