Discovering recipes from your bank vault.
I agree whole heartedly. This new function is great for cooking but terrible for all other professions. If you level a disciplin through discovery there will be 100s of recipes left undiscovered that would only be a waste of materials to discover after leveling. At 400 leatherworking I do not need to see I can discover dozens of 25 reicpes.
They’re special! They got aspirations.”

I think it’s way better than before, I hated to have to drag all the materials to discover something, and now it’s simple, all the mats are there. If you don’t want to make lower level recipes just ignore the lower level mats. I’m a 400 artificer btw, and it’s great for discovering potions.
What about a tweak that doesn’t put items in the discovery tab that will be redded out due to already discovering or not of level? Just allow for the mats that can be used for discovery to populate into the discovery tab.

I’m sure many like it. That’s why I asked if it could be optional. Just give us a check box; problem solved for everyone.
I created a “bank” character specifically to hold the mats not used by my current crafting tier.
The solution, as I see it, is to add a function to the discovery pane that would hide everything not used by your current tier.

I can’t believe the first post is a nitpicking complaint — this is HUGE for my cook.
I was having to have another alt take my bank into their inventory so that the cook could then put his inventory into the bank, and then use his bags for discovery ingredients…what a pain!
Thanks anet for this swift fix.

I acknowledged that it was beneficial in some circumstances (I have a chef too). But chefs at least had the option to buy more/bigger bags. I simply pointed out a drawback (which we’re now stuck with; no option to get around it) and requested a simple addition that would make everyone happy as not everyone likes the new system.
So I was everyone (you included) to be happy and you call that nit-picking. You want you to be happy and who cares how it affects everyone else. I call that selfish.
