Does anyone think food/cooking is pretty much worthless for making money?

It seems there is no food that is in demand that people want to use except the magic find food. What is the point of cooking if 99% of the recipes are not in demand? Some of the buffs you can get are great, but no one uses them.
I chose cooking because I thought the buffs would be needed / wanted enough that I could explore the world to find ingredients and make a nice profit. Right now, every single food is pretty much not worth the cost to make it.
Are there any foods that you particularly love to use? Anyone find food coming into popularity any time soon?

People want dyes. You won’t make any money off of them, but they’re still in demand.

Magic Find is the issue you nailed it.
Lets think on that a moment:
1) IF I am stacking magic find, the reason is to find more and better loot. In this case I lose out on vital stats.
2) IF I am stacking real and vital stats and not magic find, I am losing out by getting less and worse loot.
In Either case, YOU LOSE!

Well thats more of a risk thing (do you wanna do stuff faster, but have lower drop rate or a the same amount of stuff over a bit longer period of time with a higher drop rate), the problem is, right now we have no idea if magic find works/what are the soft caps/whats the actual magic find formula and what exactly it applies to (yes it increases the chance of you getting shiny, but of what exactly, does it apply to crafting mats too? Does 100% mf give you double the chance of getting a worthwile drop or drops all together, etc, etc).

Feasts! They are great for a large group.

Magic Find isn’t a great system as implemented, because it’s a no-brainer to stack it in the overworld, and there’s basically zero incentive to stack it during more challenging content, because that more challenging content drops the exact same loot as everything else – at least as far as the RNG loot drops are concerned.

It’s probably because foods aren’t popular or that nobody knows about em enough.
There’s one food that gives you +200 power for 30s after killing an enemy and +10% critical damage level 80 food which is quite really really powerful.
I think this stuff will become more popular later on in the game’s life as everyone will have probably found all their gear/runes/accessories to equip and then they might start thinking about getting thoses extra stats buffs.

I think people just don’t know about some of the food that gives better buffs. I mean, during dungeons I actually notice when my food buffs wear off because the extra boost to power, endurance and stuff is so high!

I agree with Battery, give it some time

mail food to other party members before a dungeon. It’ll help the dungeon go smoother and its free advertising.
Now if only tons of players didn’t have incentive to spam up cooking for a free 10 levels and dump mass quantities of the best foods as the main leveling recipes.

or you can always buy some food trays for your party from the trading post. ^^
