How to farm dragonite?
I do Jormag once a day and the boss in the eternal battleground when possible. Who else does drop it?

The golem event drops as much as a dragon event and can be done with a small group of people as it scales. It also has a fast timer so it repeats frequently during the day and you can use alts to get the main chest. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_the_Inquest's_golem_Mark_II

Shatterer of course has dragonite. The smaller events such as the Jungle Wurm, the Shadow Behemoth and the Maw also have a few in their chests.

go for temple events in orr – when your server dont do them guest on high pop servers

there you can see which event is running on which server and you can farm dragonite with different characters 1x per day per character

In terms of dragonite per event they are the best but for getting the most dragonite in the shortest amount of time that isn’t necessarily true. Depending on how many lv80s you have several of the others are better(faster).

Lyssa: form a party of 5 and do the temple.
Dwayna: form a party of 10 and do the temple.
Melandru: form a party of 10…
Grenth: 10 can do it, but you gotta know what you are doing.
Balth: 12 can do it, but you have a learning curve – be prepared to make 3 pushes to open it, which can take several hours to repeatdly grind through the (sometimes farmy) pre events.

Each temple rewards 30 dragonite, 3 of them contain outright farms for other loot, and oh…. Bosses with bloodstone, anyone?

However I find this a bit frustrating… I have everything needed to craft my first ascendant weapon but dragonite. And since I play once/twice a week max, and because of my limited playtime I struggle forming a willing helpful party of 5 people, this is getting rather long. On top of that the jormag event failed few times when I was lucky to get there in time.

I am aware I am a very casual player but I would appreciate if Anet could lower/remove the need of this or just make it more accessible to everyone. Of course, I am sure you all do not find this so frustrating as it is for me. Nevertheless this is the only game I play and with this drop rate I think it will take me half a year to have it done :/

jormag fail never ever on a populated server – just not possible
and you dont need a 5 man grp – you can do it solo

just guest on a populated server and check the times on gw2stuff

this dotn even need long and you can easy make 150+ with only 1 character in 2-3 hours when guest on 2 servers and have a bit luck with spawn timers

edit: only events which can fail are tequatl, Balthasar temple and Grenth
jsut do Melandru and Dwaya atleast 1x per day and you have 60 dragonite and this are the easiest events + you get other loot and its 15min max i guess per event

If you play that casually, then you definitely will not even notice the difference between Ascended and Exotic. I don’t see that you really need Dragonite at all actually.

Yeah right… as if I was dumb. Does it require you to play 8 hrs a day to notice if a weapon is stronger or not? What’s wrong in wanting the best weapon out there for when I can log and have fun while roaming in wvw or the occasional dungeons/events? I am not even trying to go for the legendary. Just the top tier of what’s available now.
Gosh, some people just think that because they spend half of their life in they game “can” and whoever spend less time “can’t”… That was EQ 10 years ago.

If you have limited play time, a slower (but more sure) way to get dragonite, is just look to see what bosses are up at any given time. Most of the bosses only give 3-7 dragonite (the dragons and golem give the most) but depending how lucky you are at a given time you can hop from one to the next fairly quickly. As others have suggested guesting to a high pop/active server is a good bet to try to get temple events “quickly” but from my experience they normally take longer and have a higher chance to fail (compared to world bosses).

Another option in WvW is if there is a zerg train running to cap towers/keeps. I forget the number they drop off the top of my head though.

That’s not true. Jormag fails on many servers during off peak hours. It’s simply a lack of enough players showing up.

Are you implying you can SOLO Jormag or the TEMPLE events? I’m not talking about showing up by yourself and joining in (certainly possible) but doing the entire event string BY YOURSELF? Sorry, video or it didn’t happen.

I initially found dragonite ore to be a bit ridiculous, but then I spent an hour or so just doing the events listed on the Wiki page and realized it’s not that bad.

Good ideas except for WvW: Only the keep lords (EB), garrison lords, hills and bay lords drop dragonite. I’ve never seen them drop more than 5 at a time.

If you can manage the timing, some servers run temple zergs at the same time every day.

There is nothing wrong with wanting it, just be prepared to not have it instantly. Honestly, you’re coming across as an entitled whiner while also making the mistake of bracketing my reply and making assumptions about my playstyle.

I play a couple of hours a night, mostly WvW, and it took me three weeks for my first Ascended weapon (only because I was home sick with the flu for two of those). It has taken me about six weeks for my second. I have honestly not noticed a big enough difference in performance to say that it is required. That was all I was saying.

Believe me, I am prepared. I am not crying for having it now. But after a rough calculation based on what I managed to get so far I believe it will take me 2-3 months if all goes well.
I have no problems apologising if I hurted you but the way I red your post was “no time to play? not entitled to ask” sort of message and didn’t like it. Sorry mate.

You see, I play spvp to try out builds which I would eventualy use in wvw. Having a little drop of these materials in the Mist too would help a bit.

The feel of starting a duel/fight knowing that your gear isn’t as strong as your opponent’s triggered the craving for having the top tier available right now. I just do not want to think what it’ll be when crafting Ascendent armor will be possible. I won’t probably even bother…

Like you all guys have suggested I tried using the online timers available but it wasn’t of great help. I guessed servers which were indicated to have the event active but once logged in people were not there to do it. I guess it was late at night but it ended up in a waste of little time available I have for this wonderful, and I meant it, game.

It’s the top tier (as you mentioned). It SHOULD take some effort and time to obtain. The time you are spending in the game DOES effect how long it will take overall to obtain your goals…..not sure why that is a difficult concept to grasp.

It sounds as if you realize this but just want to vent and that’s ok, but you should have expected the answers you got as the some of your posts do qualify as entitled whining (just a bit).

to be honest I have a harder time getting Obsidian Shards compared to Dragonite Ore. Not to a point where I would open a forum topic and complain about that… but there are more options to get the ore than the stupid shards lol

I shouldn’t have opened a 3d for this probably but:

- complaining seems to make things happen sometime (got almost 90 ore yesterday )
- that was by following some suggestions you guys gave me (golem event above all)

If it only was that easy whenever I log… but I guess I can now see the end of this and future seems brighter now

If you have 2-3 hours, here’s something you should try:

1. Guest on Northern Shiverpeaks
2. Go to Meddler’s waypoint and do the Temple Run

- NSP does the run 7 days a week
– It was being run just before reset, but when the time just changed it’s now being done after reset. It’s a good idea to get there about 30 minutes after reset.
– You can get about 120 Dragonite ore from the run.
– When you finish the Temple of Balthazar you can get Obsidian Shards from the merchant.

Also, they usually head over to the Karka Queen in Southsun Cove when the Temple Run is over… just for fun.

We should have a thread posting all the organized/regular Temple Runs with their times and servers as I bet a LOT of people would like to hop in those dragonite trains.

This site here is also very useful. http://www.gw2state.com/temples.html. Each temple gives 30 dragonite when successful. Find one that’s attacking and guest to it. Switch to an alt on another server for the same temple and repeat. It’s easy to get dragonite that way.
